HOW MANY OF YOU LADIES REALLY LET LOOSE ON THE DANCE FLOOR? TO THE POINT OF BEING SOAKING WET. I'VE NOTICED THAT WHEN A DJ IS PLAYING A CERTAIN TYPE OF CUT THE CUTESY GIRLS WILL DANCE FOR A WHILE AND WHEN THE MUSIC GETS HARDER AND RAWER IT DRAWS HARDCORE DANCERS THAT DON'T CARE ABOUT MESSING UP THERE HAIR OR BEING SOAKED WITH SWEAT. I REMEMBER WHEN RON WOULD REALLY BE BANGING IT HARD THERE WOULD BE MORE DUDES ON THE FLOOR THAN WOMEN. JUST CURIOUS.

Maybe that's why house found its most fertile soil in gay clubs.

RichieRich, long time no see. But to answer your question, there are some of us women that don't mind working it out on the dancefloor. If it feels good then we will dance the night away. There are some of us that are not afraid of going home with soaking wet locs, braids, fros, or whateva. You should have been at the Attic last night and you would have witnessed some women who don't mind getting down.

Mynia is right. There are several of us that love to get down on the dancefloor. I never go to a party to stand around. I guess I'm not that type of "cutesy". My locs are drenched as well as everything else, by the time I leave the club. (see Mynia, I didn't even bust you and Roni out ) [ August 30, 2002, 11:36 AM: Message edited by: Trindee ]

I am just a visitor in your fair city but I had the distinct pleasure of sharing the dance floor with Mynia and Trindee and other dancing sisters of Chicago last night. I have also shared dance space closer to home with Al Boogie (and yes she does), Princess Tam Tam, Maria, Efab and countless other women who dance more and post less. Women are and have always been outnumbered in the clubs a consequence of the truth that many of us are mothers, wives, partners and otherwise engaged in the more mundane and immediate pursuits of keeping hearth and home together. One should also not underestimate the force that standards of "appropriate" behavior constrain many women in the full and free experience and expression of their physical selves. Nice girls ain't supposed to hang out in dance halls too tough, much less kick up their skirts and get down. Thank God some of us know better than to let other folks' conventions limit our joy.

Shalewa called it (hope you're having a great time in Chitown!). Its hard for a girl to really let loose, she's completely open to misinterpretation if she does, which is highly likely to happen in the "wrong" space. Then you got big problems that latch on to your body parts and you're in a heap of trouble. I'm thankful that I get get my two-step on in safe spaces and not compelled to feel like a complete freak for doing so.

I'm a cutesy with nothing to prove. Once a frantic, wild, jackin', sweatin', messin' up my hair and makeup partyin' freak. Nowadays, just overjoyed with life, love, my kids, a good sound system.....Although, I did loose my cool last year at Shelter. I've heard Timmy before(wasn't impressed), but the last time was very nice. It felt like being at the Box on a school night, and not giving a damn that I would have to sneak in the house at six in the morning.

Us groovin' girls got the secret - those cutesty girls in the corner might think might think they have one up on us with the hair, makeup, non- sweat drenched clothing. But in reality the guys can't take their eyes off a woman absorbed in the music, freely moving her body where it wants to go. It's very sensual. Not that it's about pickin' up someone for the night at all, but it's nice to be the recipient of all that attention and good energy. And ooohhwee do those cutesty girls get jealous when their men watch our every move! Somewhere in the back of that man's head he is wishing his girl could move like that..........Enjoy the floor my friends.

OOOhh, now here's a good topic!!!
From a MAJOR believer of DANCING, I know that a REAL woman who knows, understands and respects herself does not get overly concerned about other's views of her moves on the floor. Dance is self-expression, therapeutic, exercise, joy and love all wrapped into body movement. If someone watching a sistah groove doesn't feel or see her vibing with the music (I'm talking soulful, house music - not "Perculator, shake what yo mama gave ya bullshit!!) them they just don't and won't ever get it.
It's ashamed that I felt more at "home" dancing at Body & Soul parties - (Boysville, if you will) because that element really understood and appreciated the music and the dance; embracing those who felt the vibe, regardless of sexual preference! .....but DAMN if I could've turned some of dem boyz around - ooh, some eye candy was up in there!!! - Anywho, back to the subject....
Sistahs who "get down like that" do so because of their love of and appreciation for the music. Soulful house (in my opinion) is thee form of music that gets one FEELING IT - leaving no choice but to move, groove, sweat and give praise for the gift of life. Be thankful for the REAL women out there - (big ups to Mynia, Trindee, Shalewa, Maria and others who posted here - WHAT UP GUURRLLIEEESSSS )
who join me in knowing and realizing the true meaning of HOUSE.
SYOTDF - See ya on the Dance Floor.

yeah sistahs, that is what i am saying! i have seen these divas in action and i feel it. i love to rock it on the dance floor too. even at all these loungy coffee shop house music joints i cannot stand still. i don't care if i am the only one on grooving.i don't care if i lose my earrings and my hair get sweated out, or my clothes are soaked and be coming off. as long as i got me some napkins, my little fan and some trail mix in my bag i am good to go. hahahahahah. love yall. love the energy in this post. ![[kiss]](graemlins/remybussi.gif)

word again, gigi, sha, maria....true about how sistas gotta watch if they are loosing it on the dance floor. i have had my groove busted by random male space invaders thinking i want to bump and grind with them because i am rocking it on the floor. i cannot STAND that!!!!! i can be very solitudinal in my dancing at times but still feel the community of dancers on the floor. get out my way unless i give you permission or roll up on YOU! lol hhaah ![[mad]](graemlins/mad.gif)

I don't always dance at every party. I gotta really feel it, and I honestly don't all the time. When I do dance, I DANCE my ass off.
Another reason for not always dancing...I don't like the attention. My sistas know when you got T & A, bruhs don't know how to act (and I see from the humping the legs comments that you all know what I'm saying) and I can't stand it!
I know, I know, F them...I can't help how I feel though. I don't wanna feel like a piece of damn meat!

BRAVO TO ALL MY SISTA'S ON THE BOARD! It is so nice to know that thier are women on this planet who love this music and are not afraid to express themselves on the dance floor. If anyone knows me, a night out dancing entails some comfy pants, tank top and of course my running shoes! My only beef is that I wish there were more of us out. Oneday I hope to party with all of you...... soon. To all the gurls Thanks for being women....we'll leave the ladies at home. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
