Janel
you're most likely right on the date...wasn't there a certain mix, a slower one, that sounds like an 1980s Nick Martinelli production in the vein of "Loose Ends/Five Star"? also, was this released on their "sorted" sublabel? it's highly unlikely, but i could have swore i did see a Loni Clark Sorted pressing a long time ago...
kelvy
The test pressing is on Nervous. I haven't really been listening to the slower mixes because I'm so into the Mood II Swing dub. I love the sound from that era.
Thank you Kelvy!
Much respect, Janel Roland
here's all the info you need on this one
side a1 - Club Mix 7:37 side a2 - Instrumental 6:57 side b1 - R&B Mix 4:33 side b2 - Hip Hop mix 4:10 side b3 - Mood II Swing Dub 6:35
nervouse records 1994.

This was on an import label as well as being licensed to Strictly Rhythm Records - and Todd Terry used it on one of his double LP's - I think the "This Will Be Mine" double LP

It sure seems that a lot of posts within this topic have not adhered to the question specifically; i.e. I see a shitload of records being listed here that some people, including me, have never heard of and don't give a flying fuck about...........

see, no matter what there is always going to be shit that you haven't heard of it is impossible for one person to know every cut out there. i personally have heard of 90 percent of what people have posted on this thread the ones that i have not heard of makes me curious to find out what it is. i know a ot of the older cuts but some of the newer ones i wasn't familiar with.
so i think whether you have heard of a song or not is really irrellevent to the topic cuz when someone posts their rare promo they do not think about whether there might be one or two people who have not heard the shit. my assumption is that most heads on the DHP feel that a lot of other members are educated about the music enought to assume that they DO know of the tracks that are being posted.
you also gotta recognize that everyones definition of house is different. i'm sure that there are a lot of older heads out there who could give a shit less about a Roger S. remix promo and the same applies to newer heads who don't realize that the older peeps consider oldies, disco, classics and all the such to be house and they incorporate these styles into there mixes. it's all relative you know. i for one am glad to see people posting the more obscure stuff. teach those of us that need schooling. Education...priceless

Good point. By the way, DJ Slick, how much do you want for that Donna Mcghee album? ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

THEN YOU OBVIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW REAL HOUSE MUSIC , SO WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR POINT? TOO MANY PEOPLE TRYING TO DESCRIBE WHAT HOUSE MUSIC IS BUT JUST DON'T KNOW AND WILL EVER KNOW. I DON'T REALLY LIKE TO QUOTE STUFF TOO MUCH, BUT IT HAS BEEN SAID AND SUNG TOO MUCH THAT "HOUSE IS A FEELING" AND IF A PERSON DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HOUSE IS, HOW DO THEY KNOW HOW IT FEELS? NUFF SAID.
You also have been able to enlighten us with your blissful ignorance of what the topic of this thread is: What do you consider one of your RAREST promo's (a record we're familiar with please) ---- the key word being "familiar", not "obscure." The problem with you, as well as many others, is giving the answer to a question that was not asked. If you search within this thread, you will see that all the (house) records that I posted info about are records that "REAL HOUSE HEADS" are familiar with. thats where i flat out disagree. i stick to what i said about everyone's definition of house being different. Just ask anyone from Chicago's early house scene what they consider to be Deep House and they will probably call out some tunes and it might sound something like this. Quincy Jones - Ai No Corida Teena Marie - Square Biz Loose Joints - Is It All Over M y Face
and so on.
ask someone from the newer school of house what deep house is and they might say... Jori Hulkonnen, Chris Gray, or maybe even Naked Music. if i were to play any of those artists to one of my older sisters friends and told them it was Deep House they would laugh my ass right out of the Crib. they would probably call it techno. but we all know better right?
so honestly, why the hostility? there's no reason to try and call people out because you never heard of the record they posted. many of us do know what those records are.
this thread started out as one thing then turned into something else cuz certain heads posted shit that others didn't know therefore maybe hipping them up to some shit that they feel others might enjoy as well. what's wrong with that?
like i said, how were some of us to know that the record we posted was so obscure. all the shit i have posted i have heard a milion and one times at parties in Chicago. then again we have a completely different opinion on what house is down here. that's the straight up truth just ask anyone thats from here. ( that is,anyone thats been into house for at least 15 years or so .)
my appologies if i offended you in any way. that wasn't the purpose of the reply.
