I totally agree with Tac, why does Timmy have to enter the conversation? (this is not a timmy bashing reply). Timmy has been holding it down for years at one part and one night. His rep is solid STEEL. Now whether it's beyond Wendy's control of what type of music is played on the station, someone at that station had to be there back in the early 90s to see what was being played. This doesn't mean we need to play the music from that era but there is Underground Music that derived from that era today that needs to be represented in a respectful way. Leslie brought up the fact that Darryl James and Ruben Toro have been playing the music I am describing now, and are getting better responses for doing so. They play it all, why, because it's from the same people who represented in the 80s and 90s, the same genre, the same spirit. Why regurgitate (sp) the same ole same ole when you have newer stuff to play. Respect the scene and respect the music.

Give it to them raw.

Timmy is just a damn good example of how someone presents the shit on radio with the dope….beyond that it doesn’t matter.
But the main thing is this, past all the politics, money, advertising, trends…
THIS IS MOTHER FUCKING NEW YORK.
If you don’t have one decent prime time dance mix show here then that is fucked

remember also...humphries was on right after a major hip hop show on kiss, and lasted several years on hot 97, a hip hop station...and played mostly new material.
what i've learned is that there are certain elements that make people dance...ray's statment about bass is very important and part of the key here...once you grasp the certain elements and relate them to whatever crowd you are playing for at the time, you can get away with almost anything...

One thing you have to take into consideration is the globalization of American Radio stations. They're not as "regional" as they were 10 years ago and even 20 years ago to a certain point. Some bafoon up in an office thought that all americans no matter what part of the country you live in are all alike and that they prefer the same food, music, movies and clothing.
Different regions of the country have different flavors, you can't deny it. New York needs it's dance community to be represented in a respectful way. It's not a Euro, Gay, white thing. Unfortunately this is how the scene is advertised. We need not depend on devices such as radio and the news media to get our points accross about House Music. Go out to the clubs and the record stores and support the music. This ain't Wood Stock.
Peace

No one can say anything about gays and dance music. Hip Hop and R&B has a very large gay community.

Hey you guys are taking this WAY out of context. Like I told him he asked where are the DJs with Backbone. and I told him Unemployed or in someones shadow, like myself.
Where are you getting this "pity party" shit from? I was just telling him some of us are in the game but not out in front. I am very happy with what I am doing, never said I was upset or anything of the like....
JMJ and Jamie326 from WHERE are you getting this from where I am not happy....I made choices and from what I see going on in the industry its the right choice. I am not looking for acceptance. what I am doing is plain and Simple PROMOTION!!!! You might be misinterpeting my "sideshot" methods but the game is the same PROMOTION!!!!
JMJ its no different then you, Part Sixx, LRR, taking a 3 month old post with 16 post on it changing it and making it look like the whole DHP Fam responded to it with additional post...Is that a "pity party" or promotion?
Jamie Your post like "an apology to the ladies" or the sexual topics or the R kelly post. what are those? PROMOTION even if you wont admit it.....Besides that you told me to email you at the relax party when I did another mix. I just used it a PROMOTIONAL opportunity and it worked.....
I am not mad with anyone one here, but PLEASE dont misinterpret what I am doing....which is just PROMOTION.....
thankyou.....
