Do you think it would catch on in Chicago?

I'm talkin' the original Hot Mix 5, Steve Silk Hurley, the vets from over at KKC, DJ's from here and new up and coming DJ's. Do you think something like this could be put together?

Maybe for the right $$$$$$

Or does the club scene have to bring House back up first before it catches on with radio??

I don't really know how it works, but all I know if I had the means to support the payroll. I would definitely give it a shot.

Has anyone from here ever thought about submitting a propasal to maybe Oprah Winfrey, John H. Johnson or any other wealthy chicago based business owner about the possibilites? DHP would be a GREAT thing to present to them, because of the passion and dedication that's shown on this site.

Hell, Oprah just might say F*CK it, let's give it a go!

Any thoughts on this??

Maybe, but since most house tracks are produced on small independent labels with limited distribution, who's gonna pay for the videos?? Nice idea, but......JMJ

That's the amount it will take to run your own radio station.

The videos, you better have some diplomatic discussions with the big wigs.

do you think that an all-house station would be a good thing, even if the funds were available? I love House, but 24-7? I'd dig a radion station that played House and other interesting, soulful you-won't-hear-this-on-other-stations tunes.

Actually if anyone noticed.... there were no R&B catagories televised at the Grammys. You might see R&B artist looking for a new gimmic. That "gimmic" maybe House.......

Maybe we can get the producer of the "Casper Slide" to put something together??

There was a low budget video that went a LONG way, and was the most popular video for a minute, so the possibility is there.

The only difference with House is that it will keep the bombs coming, wheras the C.S. was just a 1 shot deal.

Keep the ideas coming.. Maybe something will trigger off with somebody here, and get the ball rolling.

Q: i've always wanted to ask - what could one possibly depict in house videos? what, lifestyle? cars? booty? beach life? cats lounging poolside at the Fontainebleau? endless footage of people vogueing on extinct club floors? who seriously misses house videos on MTV?

take a good look at techno videos and how nondescript and boring a lot of that stuff is. why? because it's essentially random imagery disguised as art or artwork around a dance music with essentially very modest storylines.

peace. ngeso.

The only way House Music videos would air on television is if BET would air Gospel House cuts on Sunday Mornings. I see alot of videos and programming on Sunday Mornings in which many of the songs performed are very uptempo and have a "House" appeal to them.

Peace

I did notice that...the whole Grammy's thing was kinda weird this year...no ode to Black music at all.....I wonder if any of the stars caught on to that...were they sending a message?

IMO House videos should take on a "Old School/80s Video" aspect. Shots of the Artist with a simple story line reflecting the story in the song.....I think the overly saturated "reality" based society,a escapism thing maybe a good thing. A mini-vacation to a simpler time maybe the key.....

you could try and transmitt with low bandwidth equipment i heard the fcc was going to open up a lot of the lower bandwidth waves to the public. i mean it ain't gonna cover the whole city but you could start there and if you do it guerrila style i.e. everyone volunteers, works together. maybe you can grow it. things don't always start out super huge start small and grow that's my $.02
