Alright, You're making me have a moment "Up In Here".
"GIT UP - HUH - GIT UP IT'S PARTY TIME - CLAP YOUR HANDS". Rock The House, Tee. (suenomartino, thanks for the pictures and the mind travel to the good ole days that they provoked).
Peace, TeeHouseHead

I would say that it was primarily a gay club. (Anyone, Correct me if I'm wrong). If you loved Tee's music, it didn't matter. You'd go to wherever he was playing. A Roller rink, the Garage, Zanzibars, His own club, a club in a not to safe neighborhood. Or, just chill and listen to him on the WBLS radio station. The music was too good for anything else to matter. (IMHO) ToeSayPeace.

In Tee's words, it was a "black, militant, gay club." Just the way I like it. Read the Danny Wang article for more. Some nights the BD got rough, as in rough necks. Yes, you had your share of effeminate guys, but in the BD, even the out-and-out drag queens were tough. Of course, the crowd change somewhat over the years as the place became more popular, but it pretty much always remained a "black, militant, gay club."
