all you need is the investors...and that can be yourselves...i'm sure there are enough peeps on this board whose pockets could handle the risk...i mean we are grown ?

that way we wouldn't have to hear folks bitching about house not being given a chance

Opening up a new club right now in Chicago would go over about as well as setting up shop for the Klan on 79th and Cottage Grove. Fuggetaboutit....JMJ

yo...think positive...it CAN be done...i dont have the long money needed to be called "partner"(small group) but i can be an investor(large group)

anything is possible if you are creative and willing to risk what you put out (there are no guarantees for success)

dig it

50 of y'all put up 10 grand apeice thats half a million...if you really believe in this music you could get the 10000 easily - from your retirement plan (plus divided by fifty makes it easy to split the profits/loss)

its all about risk and reward baby

I've always thought about the ridiculous issues involved with getting liquor licenses in NYC let alone the cabaret license (issues even if you buy a place that has that in the price of the venue) - however, I am not saying this to be negative just something that always pops in my head when this topic comes up....

but on the for real - there are ridiculous issues involved with just getting out of bed in the morning...do we just give in and lie there?

It has been my dream for years to have my own place. Investors is the easy part...finding the perfect location is a whole other story! You can work around any of the other requirements...it's all in who you know baby.

You're absolutely right. I've got my financial backers and we're at the point now that we've started looking at venues. BUT it's all in the location. When you're investment is running into six figures then there's no point in being in too much of a hurry. You also need to have a people with experience in many different areas - from the operational side of things (my dept) to those who have plenty of experience in dealing in property. Still, I'm looking forward to the challenge and becoming my own boss doing about the only job that I can really seem to get enthusiastic about.

2 million members = $200 million dollars... Do you think that's enough to open a club?? Keep in mind there's only 3100+ members here. Where do you suggest we find the other 1,996,800+ investors???.....JMJ [Cool]

It is definitely about the location!

On the club ownership: I would be happy if my role was to make sure the ice supply didn't run out!! Behind the scenes operations would be sufficient for me. [thumbsup]

What's the asking price per share?

If only there WERE 2 million members! Two million hits, several thousand members.

HOWEVER, (and I hate to be a pessimist) but too many cooks truly will spoil the pot, and let us not forget the recent divide at the Shelter.

Some people will want to spin all the time, some will want to see a cash return on their investment, and it will mean an extra part time job for everyone involved. This is no easy task. If it were, there would be a lot more long-standing clubs.

I am NOT trying to discourage anything, just trying to be a bit more of a realist in my old age.

I was thinking about this the other day.

Im goin to post one way how to do it in a few days. Getting the money isnt really the bigest obstacle....dealing with government officials, zoning, licenses, police, politics, would probably be the hardest part.

Several weeks ago I suggested what I thought was an excellent location for a club in Pelham NY. It received very little interest. None from you, Mr. Buddy Love.

Good post, Buddy. You`re finally starting to get it. IT`S NOT WHAT YOU CAN`T DO BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO. There`s too much emphasis here on what can`t be done. Concentrate on a solution. Networking among yourseleves is good. Don`t worry about how hard or how much is going to cost. If you do that you`ll talk yourself out of business.

Take a good look at the rappers. Many of them come from housing projects. They don`t complain about what they cant do. Many of the house peeps are "better educated" than the rappers but don`t take action.
