Author Topic: Classic 12" # 13 The White Shadow Star Member Member # 6375 posted                        Lipps Inc. Rock It Casablanca 1979 A little change of pace from my usual early 80's Boogie 12"s, I listened to this record yesterday and knew I had to post it up. This brings back memories of my early days as a DJ I was 10 years old the first time I played for a crowd, and this was one of the hottest records back then, and a classic now, altho' slept on because of the huge hit "Funkytown" this is the best record Lipps Inc. ever did, and there weren't many goodies from them but this one is. Lipps Inc. put Minneapolis on the map, paved the way for acts like The Time and Prince and the Revolution, and some of the members of Lipps Inc. were also in those bands.They hit big with "Funkytown" but "Rock It" is the tune that got them signed to Casablanca, and the rest is Disco history. Rock It is an Uptempo Disco groove complete with strings, handclaps,bits & pieces of a replayed "I Feel Love" thrown in the mix, and the beautiful Cynthia Johnson on vocals, and she really tears it up here 'cause the vocals is what takes this track from being good to being classic..."Won't you rockit with me babeeee...Rock the night awaaaay"..Ok I know you wanna hear it now ...so here goes..
