They are called addidas italia!!

The first pair are great, I've not seen those, they look similar to the Adidas Chile 62.

Chile 62
http://store5.yimg.com/I/harputsadidas_1754_4144023

Apart from the cross over at the back and mine are dark brown (see above), which I'm currently sporting...

I also have a pair of vintage Adidas Jean, which I dare not wear..They're blue suede and denim Samba's from 1983..no picture's of these killers exist!

Also:

Adidas Provence
http://img.store.yahoo.co.jp/I/mario_1754_16229268

Very Clark'sy, I would have hated these as a kid, but now I'm 32 these are the shit!!!

Adidas Tabaco - Japan Only
http://store5.yimg.com/I/harputsadidas_1754_1198813
I picked them up for $30 and they sell in the US and online for $160

Which makes me think I should be in the trainers and records business and not the Head Hunting Business :D

Good thread, let's see what you got????

Nah they are not the LA's

If i remember correctly when these pegs were 1st introduced, the different colours are for different surfaces when playing sports, they are removable the device for removing them is like a strange adidas corkscrew

cheers

Nah they are not the LA's

If i remember correctly when these pegs were 1st introduced, the different colours are for different surfaces when playing sports, they are removable the device for removing them is like a strange adidas corkscrew
I think before LA's there where some called "California" (? ? ? ? from memory from 82,83, these came in Leather and Pig skin, I had a dark blue pair, they where chunkier than LA's more suited to breaking as there was more trainer, chunkier souls.

Rob, your right, each peg was supposed to be a different density or hardness, from memory the blue where hardest and red softest, you got six pegs of each colour so you could have all white pegs etc, I don't think the pegs where really used by too many people except maybe if you have a Red Sergio Tachini tracksuit - 3 matching red pegs graemlins/rofl.gif co-ordination I believe it is called.

I think they stopped pretending that they where used for anything other than decoration with the LA's from a few years back as you didn't get the corkscrew thing to change pegs, you didn't get 6 of each colour or any spares, you just got the 1 off each already in the training shoe when you bought them.

The UK city kids progression was

Kick
All blacks (with the huge tongue)
Bamba
Mamba
Samba
Shell toes
Gazelle
then Adidas released all the others - mid eighties like TRX, Oregon, trim trab etc. After that it just went silly IMHO, Adidas lost the plot later on, and made some foul shoes, wasn't keen when Adidas made the stripes straight rather than the original jagged stripes.

Also very early mid 80's Pods, Mocs, I remember them releases the pods again but I have never saw the Mocs again, perhaps they made a mockery of Pods.

I wasn't keen on the Travel Fox, BK's, a bit too garish for my taste, mostly at weekend nights I was rocking Chelsea boots and other stylish footwear mainly so I could get into nightclubs etc, pair of tassled loafers perhaps graemlins/rofl.gif
Product of mid-eighties Britain that loved shoes.

Converse graemlins/thumbsup.gif
i remember the "Behind the beat" time. With Normski graemlins/rofl.gif , that programme had some classic music, but they also had a fair bit of Derek B types aswell graemlins/rofl.gif

What about Kickers, Wallabees, very "Chrildren of the revolution" also

You can't go far wrong with a pair of stan Smiths. I've got a mouldy old pair of the first issued ones, which smell so bad I couldn't possibly wear them. Then another 2 pairs which must've been the second issued, different tongue/badge from the re-issues you see now.
And 2 pairs of early Shell toes from before they made the tongue all foamy.
My pride and joy though are an original pair of Run DMC shell toes. Seen better days, but still beautiful.

Beani - Trim Trab were in the shops about 3 or 4 years ago.

Hey Al - I had a 70s pair of Stan Smith's too. Bought them in the late 80s. I finally binned them a couple of years back...they were rotting!

I had a pair of Troops - they were HORRIBLE. Travel Fox were OK.

Best trainers I ever had were a pair of black leather and suede Fila in the early 90s...never seen there like again :(

There's some nice adidas on this German page, they wont let me right click, so you'll have to check them http://www.bolliger-schuhe.ch/adidas_schuhe_fussball_fashion.html

I have the Denim Calcetto VI's, they were my last purchase.

Although I bought some Clark's last week. The pastry shoes with the little walker man on the back (you'd have been beat up as a kid with them I do assure you!!!)

Casuals = were called Dressers were I came from.

Trainers + Vinyl = Milk + Ambrosia

"If you wanna be a dresser and you want to be cool, get a pair of Farahs and a Nike Kagool.."

Is that a Pringle jumper or Y cardigan, stay press trousers and a pair of Nike Division ;) ?

cRaiG... [/QB][/QUOTE]

Pringle, which fell out the back of a golfing shop
Farah's, or Fila/tachini tracky bottoms.
Diadora, Adidas, Puma trainers
Le cost polo shirt......
sporting either a big fringe of a dodgy loose back perm graemlins/rofl.gif

Mah'chew had a nice and cheap Adidas kagool, remember the red white and blue one, they also did a tracksuit in the same colours, wicked for keeping you dry whilst hanging around outside - dossing around graemlins/rofl.gif

The designer shops and golfing shops must have hated the fashion as much as VW owners did later on when the Beastie Boys appeared.

I remember golfing shops and designer shops always getting raided or smash and grabs etc, especially when the football was in town. Birmingham city fans literally running through the city centre like it was supermarket sweep, Police couldn't do anything to stop it and usually if they did they would have victims They would always lose there helemets first, to adorn some hooligans mantle piece.

The worst look ever:

deerstalker hat, pink pringle over a polo neck jumper, faded Levis with vents cut in the hem, Kickers with dozens of tags all over them.

I remember people getting jumped in Glasgow for their clothes, even going as far as stealing their kicker tags.

Craig - Y cardigan, waffle trousers and side lacing shoes - nice!

Craig - Y cardigan, waffle trousers and side lacing shoes - nice! I remember an ID Magazine's 'dictionary of street fashion' that said in the early eighties casuals in Edinburgh were called, Maroon Diskies.

Have you heard this one?

Apparently because they wore Maroon Argyle Jumpers (Jambo syle) and went to Discos (Diskies) :D

I kid you not, but like all things in ID Magazine it's possible there's a bit of romantic Londoncentric license in that twaddle ;)

Hell Bent On Leather And Suede.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/sambasuper.jpg Samba Super

Let's take a look back at some of the old greats that have, in recent years, returned to a sports shop near you. This particular legacy of the Indie/Dance era is as strong as ever and would have probably come about even if indie bands hadn't learnt to dance.

ADIDAS.

Without a doubt, the Scousers favourite. Puma came a close second, but the brand with the three stripes held sway on the streets of Merseyside in the late 70's and early 80's.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/campus.jpg US classic Campus has found popularity since its re-issue, especially with, well, campus throughout the land. Like its distant cousin Gazelle it has been made available in many materials and colours in recent years.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/sl72.JPG SL72.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/sl76.jpg SL76

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/stansmith.jpg Adidas Stan Smith. The re-issue of this legendary tennis shoe has been around for some time now. There was Stan Smith Supreme, a slight variation on the original, released in the early 90's.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/country.jpg
Adidas Country. Probably one of the, if not THE, most popular re-issues to date. Everyone is wearing them, from babes in arms to pensioners. A good enough reason to regret ever buying them.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/grandslam.jpg Grand Slam, yet another re-issue?

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/rom.jpg Adidas Rom. Favourite of the Leeds Service Crew circa 1981, along with ski jumpers and dodgy gloves.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/grandprix.gif
Adidas Grand Prix, it was the brother of the Adidas Wimbledon shoe.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/rodlaver.jpg
Rod Laver. The re-issue of this vintage model, inspired by the Australian tennis pro, can be found on the sale rack of a Schuh branch near you. An example of over enthusiastic band-wagon marketing.

What If...

Drawing a comparison on the sartorial habits of the 60's mod and the Liverpool terrace wag would be justified. Cycling shirts had been wore as a fashion in the 60's and made a comeback on Merseyside in 1980-1. Mods had also wore cycling and bowling shoes, what if the wag had wore them too? Below are possible models for re-issue?

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/special.jpg The Special cycling shoe.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/bowlingshoe.jpg Adidas bowling shoe.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/gripper.jpg Adidas Gripper. An American Football shoe that looks interesting.

http://www.terraceretro.com/backissue/kickoff.jpg The hooligan's dream shoe? Also, handy for a Sunday morning cross-country meet.
