interesting article in sundays NY Newsday. it seems that our kids are way too fat..the figures from Depts. of Education and Health and Mental Hygeines show that 31% of hispanic children; 23% of black children; 16% of white children and 14% of asian children are overweight or obese
In response the HHC has announced that as of August 1st they will launch a major program to combat pediatric obesity in order to combat the rising rates of pediatric diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The NYC school system will also be eliminating high fat and high sugar items from schools and vending machines...they will also be revamping the physical education programs.
Face it..often times fat parents have fat kids...its time to stop the nonsense about being "big boneded" or "not subscribing to European standards of beauty" or "BMI doesn't matter" or "i'm healthy" and all the other excuses people give for being lard asses. Our children are now becoming drastically ill at earlier ages and its our fault.

I'm sure the unrepentant fatties on site will be pissed but thats too bad...we are now faced with a public health crisis and our children are the most vulnerable
