Who invented the 'disco pop!'?

I was just hinking about it and wondering, when was the disco pop (the spacey, popping kinda sound a la tamiko jones - cant live.. and hundreds of other records) first used, like on which record or created by which artist? Also, what instrument was used to create this sound. I'm sure I've heard the sound on records before synthesizers were about or in common use...

i think you might be referring to syndrums. they've been around for a while & i'm sure you can get a moog to produce those types of sounds. Arpeggio Love & Desire is another song that heavily uses syndrums. Also Ralph McDonald The Path.
