That specific pose, is that about the dresses or about the asses? Why do they (the actresses) do this so readily? Why don't the male actors do this?

It's alluring, no? Brings out that inner predator in you? Makes ya wanna pounce?

It alleges to be about the dresses...I'm not sure it's not about both.

I find it mindless.

I'd be like "Scarlett, turn around!" "Bugger off, will ya!?"

it's been calculated in a secret mountain hideaway by a James Bond-esque villain who's planning on taking over the world with mediocrity and generics.

It's 'the look back' and it's as stupid as everything else that is Hollywood popular culture.

It's just a contrived pose all the starlets do, to show off their dresses and their behinds. There is hardly anything to it other than that [these] women are so pressured to be desired for their looks (above all else) that they find ways to maximize their assets, so to speak, when being photographed. Why don't male actors do it? They, as far as I can tell, don't have any specific set of poses. Male actors have a lot more leeway in how they present themselves.

Hollywood and celebrity culture is mind-boggling to me sometimes. It feeds on itself, and somehow is immune from the standards imposed on other industries. I mean...what has Linsday Lohan done other than get f'ed up, go to rehab, and make a crappy movie here and there yet she's a celebrity mag/show staple. Same for Paris Hilton. Same for anyone going thru a divorce or breaking up. It's this little self-contained world that is yet so disproportionately influential.
