...you think about where you are in life and do not seem satisfied.

Sometimes, you think about the choices you have made in life and now suffer from those bad choices.

Sometimes you look at the way other's live and then you realize,it ain't that bad afterall.

I just want folks to know that life is no joke...you only have one.Do what it is you want to do,because no entity or force has control over your destiny...but YOU!!!

I've just been reflecting and am going to make some serious changes in my life.No one can make the changes for me ..but me.If that means starting completely over,I will do it.

I sometimes get tired of hearing folks complain and ain't doin' a damn thing to change.I also et tired of folks placing blame on evrything but the person in the mirror.

Didn't nobody make you smoke that weed and fail that drug test....I am just tired of excuses and dumb ass people....

James Balwin once said that (and I'm paraphrasing) "we choose who we want to be by simply living the lives that we live." More often than not, you are the G.O.D. (governor of destiny) in your life. I hate when people blame their problems on the devil. I don't mind when people give honor to God for the activities of their limbs and mind though, because we're not guaranteed another day. Do what you feel Jamie. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Feeling you on this Jamie...

Other people won't always understand why something new is right for you, but if you know, you know. It just ultimately makes more sense to sometimes let things go and open up new possibilities for growth and happiness in your life.

I know I am doing some heavy reflecting about my life right now and I am sure that some of things are likely to change will be very surprising to those looking in from outside.

Spring is a time of reflection. Keep a positive outlook and keep the faith and you'll be just fine.

I check myself everyday. We all fall down sometimes, but persevere to do your personal best all the time.

has anyone accepted themselves "as is" - i'm not talking halting your quest for knowledge and wisdom, but have you stopped beating yourself in the head trying to change the inevitable? do you love yourself? are you happy?

why is it that we expect others to love, accept and be happy around us when we cannot do that for ourselves?

why is it that we expect others to love, accept and be happy around us when we cannot do that for ourselves? Very good Rickey.I'm not happy at all.I know that only I have put myself in situations and only I have the power to change me and those situations.

I don't expect folks to be the way I want them to be.I guess,I'm happy on the outside, but not on the inside. At least I see that I need to make some changes in my life for the better,to get to another place in life. Some folks will never ever see that. That's the sad thing about it all...

I am not in your shoes so I don't know what you are feeling right now.. but you woke up this morning.... that's a Blessing!!!!! You have a chance to start the rest of your life right now... What you do with it is up to you. Oh and always remember that no matter what you're dealing with there is always someone in a much worst situation. Some don't eat everyday.. right here in Chi... some don't have a place to stay... and I've been in both situations.
Peace

we all have the capacity to live any life we want - and who really gives a hoot what others will say once you've made your decision...the only people you have to answer to is you, God and your children, if they are young (if they are over 21 or you have none, your decision should be 1000x easier)...

by researching thoroughly the life we want, tying up loose ends and just doing it, we have endless opportunities for true happiness...

but before we go, we must come to accept and love our pooched bellies that may never become flat again...

Hi Jamie http://deephousepage.com/smilies/wavey.gif So what exactly happened, did you just all of of a sudden just wake up and decide that your life was not what you wanted or has there always been this underlining current of dissatisfaction and it is only now that you have decided to make changes?

Hey lady T.I'm doin good.Just been doing some soul searching for a while and just realized that I need to make some changes....just to get by.That song really struck a nerve with me.

I just need to realize that all of the mistakes I have made earlier in life have now caught up with me.No need to go deeper, but I have to change my life and some of the people who are in it.

I did this before and got to a different level and now I need to do it again.

beginning of the month i was feeling kinda crappy. my birthday, turned 36, mothers day weekend, etc. was driving down the street and saw a grammer school friend standing on the corner asking for money. that was like a slap in the face. things are not as bad as you think they are. in fact, things could not be better. moral of the story, be glad for what you have and who you are.

i feel this and hear what you're saying. i got friends at this moment complaining about everything. stop and listen. change or don't, but stop bringing it to others. do your thing, 'cuz that's the thing you know best.
to rip-off a phrase: just do it!

As to your original 1st post, yeah-yea....on target! I am in a similar situation and I am trying to hit it like I hit everything, full steam, full force(period)

Nice comment Rickey X, but it can also be used as a cop-out by some. Change is infinite and thereby static, it would seem....sorry, I wont start.

I jsut figured out that waiting is the only way to get the good things in life. Patience is perhaps the most important virtue. The good news is that no matter what one is waiting for, he can always improve himself...So if you're down, go for a workout, or read the Illiad hail.gif ...these things will help you enjoy the good times even more when they do come, and make the bad more bearable. Knowledge is always there, though it is hard to get out of bed and go to the library/school when you're down. Therein lies the challenge.

Good Morning my DHP brothers and sisters. It's good seeing some of the positive things being said here today.

Jamie, I'm feeling you man. It's good that this feeling comes over us as men. Sometimes we have to re-invent ourselves, do something different in our lives or change the path we were once going down.

Life has a way of waking you up. This year has been a hard one for me and I'm realizing that I must do the same thing Jamie if I a am going to last. There is so much here that I need to accomplish in life before it's over. The time to do it is now.

Feel free to reach out my brother. I saw you once downtown one morning, possibly going to work. Hollachaboy if need be.

God Bless and take care, everyone.

Hey Jamie I pray you will feel better and know this: You cannot progress in life without problems to elevate you to the next level of success. You become stuck because you get comfortable and small things become major thorns in your side. God is not a punisher, he just want us to accomplish greatness, live in wealth and health. Don't mind the folk that are looking at you, we all are trying to make it in this world and cannot judge you. All People are trying to find their place in life so don't get sidetracked with folk and their murmuring. Not one of us are greater than the other, doubts, fears and intimidations are only obstacles to stop you. The only way to get through is to go through knowing that your problems, negative people, hearsay are temporary and will not, cannot control you or your lifestyle. During it all keep a smile on your face, obtain joy always and live in peace. (Even when you don't feel being joyous, your breakthroughs can come then)

"This is the first day of the best day of your life - The best is yet to come" ;)

The global economy is ****ed, women and children are being slaughtered in Congo and Chechnya, we have a mindless president who's decisions are brought about by rich fascists, the American public is asleep watching American Idol and The Bachelor while our civil liberties and rights are stolen from us...

Is it any wonder people are depressed?

It got me hella-depressed.

But I decided to do something about it. I got involved in helping turn this thing around.

Going to school to finish up and get my Bachelor's and Master's.

Got involved in a grassroots progressive political campaign.

I'm helping community youth groups get off the ground and involved in helping out our communities.

I've learned that sharing my knowledge and getting involved in uplifting other people's lives is very fulfilling and satisfying. I've gone from being self absorbed and selfish to being selfless and involved.

This killed my depression.

This solution isn't for everyone, but I can testify that it worked for me.
