Yep, Those people should know. I live in Miami, but I never stay at any of the hotels down here (especially on South Beach).

I stayed at The Nash last September.
Great Location, pics lied.
Managment sucks, but right near everything.

This September I am staying at The WinterHaven.

At WMC this year I stayed 26th a Collins. Great walk, away from the hoopla, but kinda weak joint, Fridge came off the doors. Reminded me of colle dorms. Couple years back, stayed at The Parisian, bug invested, right on Collins next to Jerry's diner though.

Pay the extra loot is my advice. Its worth it.

The Marlin Hotel has real nice rooms with stereos and a good bar with DJs downstairs. Price is mid range for South Beach, and vibe is low key but still nice. Good location too.

The only other places I've stayed during WMC were real big and swank (not much fun if you ask me) or little and nasty.. or the beach...

I stayed at the Tudor Hotel in the Art Deco section of South Beach last October. it was only two blocks from the ocean and one block from the Strip. Shuttle bus service that circulates around SB was very accessible.
The only snafu I had was with the music in the lobby (I stayed on the 1st floor). It was a little too amplified at times. Of course requestng a higher floor would eliminate that problem.

Yes MArlin and Victor are cool. there is Dorchester Hotel and Beach Plaza, too.

- Nash - stayed there 2005 & 2007 ... Great hotel (not sure what the other poster's experience was, but I loved it the last 2 times I stayed there --- although the pools are the size of bathtubs)

- Royal Palm - stayed there 2007 (after a few nights @ Nash) ... another Great Hotel

If your money is long you can stay at the Shore Club. Real nice pool and club in the hotel. You can find some miami hotel deals at www.hotelclub.net.
I also like the blue moon but the pool is real small.
