Those are the bad ones, where the vocals are timestretched and it doesn't even make sense musically.
There's some that folks just make them on their computers and then there are some done by the pros, who know how to make something musically sound
The ones done by the pros are the ones folks usually like..and they sound good.
I have heard some remixes done by some cats who are not big names and they sound good.So basically it's more about your skills...and musical knowledge
That separates a great remix from a shitty one IMO.

I feel you on this. There's a Stevie Wonder remix ( I can't remember by who) that sets my teeth on edge everytime. It starts out decent and then just gets awful in the middle.
For the most part I like the remixes, especially Quentin's. They are something the non househeads can relate to.

Yeah Sue.These remixes have helped me convert many a non house head or a stuck back in the day person over to newer sounds and tunes.
Quentin's remixes are dope.I don't care what folks may say about the cat,he makes energetic party cuts..that work for the floor.

What Jamie said!!
As stated in the "Hate On Me" thread, they are great tools for getting people interested in house music that usually wouldn't give it a listen!!

usually, you would only do an r&b, remix if when you double the original vocals from and average 62 bpms. So, when you make it a house track itss 124bpms avg., deephouse bpms.
you could run the accapella over a track thats 124 bpms...I think.
please anyone one who produces can help me out on this one

They can be REALLY formulaic. Alot of these r&b songs can be played in their original form in a house party...and still make people dance. The remixes often make everything just sound the same, and that includes some of quentin's stuff. What's wrong with mixing up the genres a bit at the party???? So few dj's seem to do this anymore. That's not to say I dislike all the remixes...i love quentin's take on "hate on me," but what he did with that nelly furtado song is atrocious, lol.

R&B remixes are great tool for exposing non househeads to our music and also exposing househeads to R&B tunes & artists we don't know about. Like everything else, some are good, some bad. As far as producing, I prefer to rmx songs that flew under the radar. Its not exciting to me to remix a song that was already a hit in its original form. I'm not knocking the guys who do that cause when its done well, I enjoy them immensely. It just doesn't inspire me to put the work into doing one. I also prefer remixes where they put at least some of their own music in it(bassline, keys, horns, strings, etc)
when done right . . . they sound great . . when done wrong . . they sond blaahhhhhhhh . . .

Suzzane i think if the artists acutually took the time to rerecord the song some of them wouldnt be so bad.Mariah has been known to sing a special vocal for the house mixes.

9 out of 10 vocals I'm feeling are R&B remixes. And I love vocals. Can never relate to people that don't like them. Sure, lots of bad one, but that's anything. I really can't stand most original house vocals. The lyrics are usually just so cheesey to me. Writing is to "on the nose". But when a house vocal that is not a remix does work it is truly something special. Was jus looking at 138's playlist and Glenn Undergrounds "look inside your self" is a perfect example of an amazing house vocal that's not a remix.

If it's a good R&B song to begin with, it shouldn't need a remix.
If it's a shit R&B song to begin with... can't polish a turd.

I couldn't disagree with you more. A remix isn't replacing the original it's just giving it a new context.

I'm not a fan of vocals on house records unless it flows with the music. To me house music is best played raw down to the bits in music that make you want to dance(kind of like the hiphop djs did with breaks, but with disco)- vocals in dance music are for females to sing along to, haha and chart sales for kids. For me, acid house was/is the purest forms of house music- its raw striped to its bare parts.
This RnB,,or what now is so called RnB offends my ears mainly- it sounds unfinished to me, I mean where is the dam R in modern RnB??
Dont get me wrong I love some vocals in House, ones that were ment to be- not churned out like a factory all souless.

Much Agreed!
I find that alot of people that were not into house, groove to the R&B converted songs,to house beats. My 67 year old Aunt has been faithfully tunning in to my CJ show every week. She was not at all into house but found it very nice to reconize some of the music and gave it a chance. She says she likes house now and listens to more that just my show. There is a such thing as overkill, and EVERY R&B song out,old and new Does not need to be re-mixed/or re-made. Some producers are better than others and some of these remix/remakes are Very Good, the are alot that are pure crap. I guess its just a matter of your own personal taste.

When you've loved R&B, been a soul boy for many years, fought your corner over many years of tribalism, when rock was the enemy here in the UK. But now, you feel that rock (insert genre) has more ideas now, not as shallow and showy and overly image concience, blingy and full of wank materialism coated bullshit lyrics sang as vocal acrobatics, you just know you hate them and their lack of wanting to create, they would rather to immitate those that went before them. Celebrity culture, making cunts want to be stars without having to think of a good lyric between em, spoilt pagent queens and stupid wife beating chest beating ego filled jocks. Everything they don't stand for, music that's suffering from cultural schizophrenia, it's selfish wankers music now, talkin loud saying nothing lalalalalala baby music, it's done, toast, burnt out, lacking talent.
MTV etc, over kill, boring stale, same beat autotuned badly written nonsense.
It shot it's load in it's own face.

You might be referring to "Superwoman" remix? I forgot about this and played it on my one of my shows. At first I thought "ok this works" then it got aweful right in the middle like it was a grave mistake somebody forgot to go back and correct before pressing it up.
