can't stand house music. My girl is strictly RnB and Hip-Hop. I can't get her to go to any House events because she just hates the music. I have tried playing RnB remixes around her and she still doesn't like it. I have some more female friends and they are the same way. I try and try to get them to open up to the music and it just ain't happing. It seems to me guys that don't know much about the music are more tolerable of the music than females that don't know much about the music. I was bringing this up because I was trying to bring some females to the DHP parties, but I was like I will be better off not bringing them.

Same here ... one is into Gospel, the other Brazilian rhythms. I can tolerate the latter, though.

Man,my wife likes House and used to go with me to sets back in the day,but she's not a real head. She likes a lot of the modern cuts but would not party as hard as I will and have done.
It was more a social scene with her, than a way of life.House was/is a way of life to me.

I'm not gonna say my wife hates it, She likes the popular stuff like what Boolu plays on Power 92, she comes home and say's damn that mix was slammin how come you never play those songs. I just laugh at her. But she's four years younger than me and she really missed the good ole house years. I took my Wife to the party at Dolce last year, only because First Friday's was at Issac Hayes so we went back and forth all night, but she hates going to house parties, she did like Sidecar though. But as for taking her to the Basement or something like that she would kill me. I caught my four year old daughter walking around the house singing Lady bug, the other day,I mean word for word, maybe I can get her to like house.

Luckily my wife loves house. Unluckily she hates all my old soul and R+B stuff so I have to sneak off and play it downstairs.

My nephews love house music and the pop stuff. When they are with my brother or me all they hear is house. When they are with their mom or my girl they hear the other stuff. It blew my mind one day when I was listening to a mix and heard my nephews singing "I Might Do Something Wrong". They are in love with "Fix It Man" by Ragtyme as well.
At first my girlfriend (my wife now) never really liked my music she always thought it was weird. I mean, I would just bug-out all by myself so I can understand how she would feel that way. She knew I was into this crazy music, but she didn't even know what it was called. I had to explain to her what this was really about. 10 years later she loves disco, and italo. Thanks to me. I'm glad I was able to influence her.

My wife likes some House songs like Fade, but mostly R&B. She was brought up by country, toast fryin, pork chop in your pocket, down south parents. I was exposed to everything from Frankie Lymon(my big bro & sisters had the 78's),Mongo,Miles,Hendrix,Kool & The Gang,Doors and Mandrill to Marshall Jefferson to the current. One girlfriend likes House moderately, another likes the drama free aspect of the parties, but the new one is scared to even come with me to free joints like Coney Island & Summer Summit. She always stays home with her kids,
but asks me how the parties were. I'm trying to get her out to Eastern Parkway Monday, where she's never been.

i make it a point not to date anyone who claims to be strictly " R&B", "Alternative", "Pop" etc...etc... , and i especially try and avoid those that claim to be"House", or "Hip Hop". Don't get me wrong, i could chill for a minute with someone like that. we could probably even hold hands ;) but, IMO claiming to belong to scenes exclusively says a lot about your personallity. i trully do appreciate it when a woman keeps a wide open mind.
I used to have one that hated it and only liked RNB, but eventually she saw the light. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/smokin.gif

My wife likes Jazz and plays bass guitar...She's not a House Head. She likes to dance to House, but let's me get obsessive all on my own, the way we both like it, like football, digging for dusty records is 'my time'.
Everyone needs a little 'my time' ;)
My wife likes house, but not to the extent that I do. In her high school/college years, that's all that was played when she went out. Although she's nowhere near as into it as I am, I'm thankful she likes the music and supports me.

My gal's not a house head. I mean, she listens to it if it plays, but she, by no stretch, fiends for the stuff.
Kids are a lot more open minded about music than adults.Yeah. I agree with this.
I was riding down the highway with my son listening to "Flying Machine" by WAR. He was playing his gameboy and casually whistling the damn flute solo note for note- flawlessly. I damn near crashed. He says, "Yeah, I LOVE this song. I like the instrumental stuff like this and 'Evolution' and 'Beau Mot Plage'."
I thought, yeah, this is my kid alright.
On the other hand, my 20-year-old sister-in-law talks about my "club friends" like a bunch of tie-dyed, cosmic hippies. I've heard of adults walking into the Shelter like, "Oh my God, you've got be a professional dancer to dance here!"
They really don't get it.

See I feel blessed because my wife loves what I do. She loves the music and we constantly turn ourselves on to new shit, not just on the house tip, all the way around. It's awesome, on the weekends when It's cleaning house time she'll be like babe can you put on some music. She gives me great feedback and support. In all likelyhood I may still be single, because the music drama in a relationship to me was a big deal. You know what I mean... I dated a few girls that were just into commercial crap, you end up going out alone and shit because she likes different kinds of clubs and you can't hang at her joints because you know better and the music + people wuld make you sick to your stomach. So after many years of hunting I lucked out. Even the kids dig it... :D

for me its the opposite..
i love house music.. and my boyfriend .. well he is not that into it..
he likes some stuff though but is more into downtempo sounding stuff..
he has come to my parties and likes most of the music that is played there..but gets annoyed when i constantly play it all day at my house..
i usually go out solo or with friends to house events... which i totally don't mind.. its nice to have something to myself.. smile.gif

I have yet to date someone who is as into it as I am...that seems like it would be the ultimate because you would really have something that connects you...or am I being a sappy kitty... :D
My friend enjoys house although I have yet to drag him out so that he can get his dance on, but he knows that house music is my only kind of music besides my old r&b records that I am beginning to hoard...
It's kind of cool that he enjoys it and is open to it but not consumed, so it still remains my way of life...then again he may end up loving it...

My fiancee likes the gospel-y stuff, like "You are my friend" and "Rise Above The Storm", but she's not crazy about the dubby and jazzy stuff that I love. She's mad about shoegazing pop hahaha!
The first time we talked, she gave me a ride home and she was bumpin' Romanthony's "Hold On" in the car. I sort of made my mind up there and then.

My wife has always had an open hear to whatever I play or feel like listening to. My kids (3 & 7)like to critique my mix cd's and tunes I buy. They tell me which songs and/or tracks are hot graemlins/thumbsup.gif or not graemlins/jpshakehead.gif . They seem to enjoy singing and dancing along to the groove if it moves them graemlins/OLA.gif .

Most of my girlfriends have all been house heads as ive either met them at clubs or when i was out raving way back!
My current girlfriend mostly listened to pop before she met me but as soon as i started playing my music to her she loved it straight away.Shes not so much into the really deep african or dubby/jazzy stuff but prefers vocals and a good song! She likes blaze, kim english that kinda vibe-more soulful really but when i play old classics she loves it.To be honest i just think shes a disco girl full stop!!
Its kinda cool tho when u introduce some one to new music and they get the vibe!! :D
