As I pulled up to park in fromt of the place, the music was blairing out from an open door that led to the patio. There was nowhere to park on the street except to park illegal. I figured that Stevie B's is packed tonight and to no suprise, the place was full and people were gettin their "jack" on! The energy was very high in the joint! Greg Gray was serving his last couple of tunes and Torin was about to get on and continue where Greg left off. I'm glad to see that people came together and really partied hard. I didn't stay long but I ran into a ton of people I knew. it was really good to see that everyone was enjoying themselves. I wanted to stay but I wasn't in the best frame of mind (i was very tired) and couldn't wait to get to bed.
Torin, Big Ups to a sucessful night, I wasn't quite sure what to expect after all that drama one individual started... but I glad people came out and had a good time... I'm looking forward to the rest of the weekend. Tonight(Friday), DHP Chicago has represented, stay tune for the second installment (Sat. night).
Please post pictures on this thread.

Yaaaaaaay! We did it...the kickoff DHP Chicago event was niiiice. The music was hot (I actually got a generous helping of DISCO from several selectas), the women were plentiful (and there were some real cutie pies too, if I must say so myself), and even the dudes weren't half bad. ;) Congrats to all those who worked hard to ensure a great night. Let's make sure we do the same up at Spot 6 this evening!

Right now I am in pain.I had such a damn good time. The turnout was beautiful.Folks got down. The spirit was there and it touched all dj's.If you missed this set,you missed one for the books.I am going to go back to sleep.Last nite was a workout.I do not have a voice from yelling so damn much.

I'll write back on this later.I just wanna say thanks to everyone who helped make this possible. Two parties left.....

i'm at a loss for words. so many heads in the house who had a great time and it's not over. dhp - chicago showed up in mass numbers. all of the dj's were incredible and there was much love. ego's were non-existent.

it was a truly remarkable night. the owner (who was screaming louder than anyone) kept the place open as long we wanted to stay. now that's house!

thanks to everyone who worked to make the first night a success. thanks to g-man for dhp.

i know there are a lot more photos. please email them to me: torin_e@thaunderground.com

(please zip files if there are many).

Now that I've got my shit together (2 hours late for work today), I must say that last night's party was great. all of the DJ's brought their "A" game, and a good time was had by all. I don't expect anything less from the Spot 6 crew tonight, and DISCO will be served by yours truly. Get ready for another beatdown!!!......JMJ graemlins/beerchug.gif graemlins/OLA.gif graemlins/OLA.gif graemlins/OLA.gif graemlins/OLA.gif

If you build it they will come...

DHP represented itself tremendously last night at Stevie B's. It was like a scene from the old Sidecar days. There was so much love in the air, you could taste it (if you licked).

The reviews are already in so no need to go there. BUT THE JOCKS, WE WERE ON SOME OTHER LEVEL. I had never been at or played a party where every jock was "in the zone". It was unbelievable.

Missed Marbil and Sean Haley's set, but caught Jamie's as I walked in.

Jamie was setting the crowd up real nice. A little underground, a little disco, some abstract thrown in for seasoning. I got beered up Heinekin style and headed for the food. Then Jamie plays that damn Natalie Cole that DJ Quad remixed and the place comes alive. From there it was on. Jamie created the vibe for the night by mixing the old and the new cuts all together.

Rahaan follows and he was bringing the hammer! The disco edits were lifting the crowd and Rahaan was letting 'em have it. DISCOQUEEN was loving it and her energy on the dancefloor when Rahaan played (damn, can't remember shit) she took the whole floor for herself.

I followed Rahaan and just tried to follow suit. I was happy to see so many people vibing off what I was playing, I was in heaven! I played that Paul Johnson song (can't remember this one either) with a ML King piece, from there I went in, zoned out and let the records play themselves. They was like jumping outta the record case "Yo G, right here". Thanks y'all for showing a nigga love, it felt good.

Torin followed and all hell broke loose. Now, if you see Torin, he's laid back and chilled. Last night, he had the eye. Torin played better than anytime I can remember EVER. He beat that shit like it had stole something, cause he was unmerciful. He took the crowd where he wanted them to go. I was outside a few times, and was like "Is he playing?...DAMN! WOOO! Yeah T!" I thought he outplayed us all. He hit that Bositch edit and everybody went crazy, self included. At one point, I had to fan him down with pluggers he was so hot.

Now it's getting close to 2 o'clock and we about to pullup, when Jamie gets back on the box and wouldn't let the crowd leave. He started playing, the crowd kept dancing, the owner shut down the bar, and he joined the party! Now everybody's feeling it big time!

Sean Haley steps up after Jamie and he zones out! I was done when he played Blaze's "So Thankful". Next I knew, it was 3:00 and we were still partying?!

Thanks to all who came through and spent an evening with us.

The rest of the weekend is going to be fantastic!

Chicago DHP-1 was on point!!!

It was me, Discogoddess, who got majorly lifted by Rahaan's set, and the record that really set me off was "Disco Fever." I believe it's by Rare Essence. I know DISCOQUEEN99 was in the house vibing off of the disco, too. ;)

Ditto to all the other stuff you said. Yeah.

Is this THE Jevon Jackson? I got a CD this summer that has a record with sound bites from an interview with some Chicago house legends. Jevon says: "You can't make house music, house music is created by the dance floor."

Never have truer words been spoken. I was planning to use that as my tag quote at some point.
