would you do a 1hr local guest spot at a club/party for $100 bucks. Meaning your the closer and get $100 bucks to spin for about an hour. Thats about maybe what, 12 records....if that????

planning somethin in the winter and just tossing around ideas for a few folks

If I'm in a city anyways and I have that day off in between gigs, why not ..

If it's a gig in my town or within 30 minutes from me, hells yeah I'll do, infact it's not too many djs that would turn that type of gig down unless they got another gig already.

I usually end up spinning for free sometimes so me getting paid to only spin for an hour is like bullshitting around at home on the turntables. :rolleyes:

What I find interesting is some of these guys saying no....100 bucks an hour is no insult. And the tenor of the naysayers was as if they were beneath that. So if you guys who said no are reading this post....how much do you get for a gig? How long and if the answers are true ...who is your agent?

You ever thought that it's not a money issue to why some kats might be saying no, but maybe it's a time issue & have other plans or obligations at another spot.

Also if some club owner wanted me to spin for 2-3 hours for $75 - $100 then I would take that one over the 1 hour gig but that's just me.

Some other djs don't like spinning with other djs especially if they know the line up of other kats might end up playing a similar choice of records as them.

My take is, is you are not THE name, and the event will get your name out there- why wouldn't you take some loot to better your career?

Besides that, some events will keep your name out there with say new audiences.. so sure, take the money and run.

My opinion is, if someone's call you to spread good vibes, in a nice place with good people feeling the house, with free alcohol ^^, don't need to get paid, it's more a pleasure than something else. :)

I really gotta get my ass out the basement. You ballin ass DJ's having a hard time taking this money LOL. Shit, last week it was should I do it for 500? It aint even the end of the week and another gig?!

My broke ass aint bought vinyl in 2 months! Next time one of you guys have a hard time deciding PM me with directions to the spot. I will haul all that shit out the basement, hurt my back carrying crates up and down the steps then load it up in my minivan and as the lovely lady says "dothedamnthing"

Fuck it if you well known I will do it for free! I know I know its guys like me that F it up for everyone else. Go tell your union steward.

Now after I have grinded like this for a while made a name for myself and got PAID! I will then come here and ask "Should I do a 3hr set of classics for 350?"

Im hating so what! On the real if you gotta ask you probably dont need the money cuz you got bigger and better shit it the works.
