Placed an order online Sat..They guaranteed Xmas delivery. So today is Weds and UPs has nothing for me. I call SI and they say that it was shipped and the ONLY thing they can do is re-ship. Im like Xmas is tomorrow. Again they say the ONLY thing they can do is re-ship. So I ask for a refund and they tell me" oh yea we can give you a refund". So I ask why if I paid so much shipping(20 bucks), why didnt it arrive. They proceed to tell me the shipping is based on the price of the order. Now how the hell can that be? UPS and all other shipping companies I know of base it on Weight.
Oh well. Now my pops is short one gift and my 6yo nephew is assed-out of a gift. :(

I wonder what time they close. There is a store in Soho. You could always go there presuming they have it in the store.

My guess is that they have to insure the package also, and that's based on the value. In most cases they're making money on the shipping anyway. That's the HANDLING charge......JMJ ;)

Good luck because Sharper Image is a GREAT store for technogadgetfreaks like us.
Good luck and Happy Holidays to all.

I'm just saying that this is the way some companies handle their shipping. If you get those Pro Sound catologs at home, this is the way they do it:
STANDARD GROUND SHIPPING & HANDLING TO THE 48 CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES
$0.01 to 50.00 add 6.95
$50.01 to 100.00 add 9.95
$100.01 to 200.00 add 13.95
$200.01 to 300.00 add 16.95
$300.01 to 500.00 add 19.95
$500.01 to 800.00 add 27.95
$800.01 to 1200.00 add 32.95
$1200.01 to 1600.00 add 45.95
$1600.01 to 2000.00 add 57.95
$2000.01 to 3000.00 add 76.95
Orders over $3000 add 3% of subtotal
Heavier items and multiple box orders may increase shipping charges - call for info
Still don't buy it??.....JMJ

Iwoulda brave the lines that probable weren't as bad you think. Better than showin up empty handed. The idea of printing an image of the gift is a close second though.
Anybody reading this remember E-Toys? Man, that was a real mess a few years back!! They declared bancruptcy just a few day s before x-mas, had everybody's money and ended up not shipping the orders AT ALL!!

And they are also not charging 20 bucks shipping for 2 items that cost 80 beans.By that theory a $3000 item from SI would cost $600 for shipping.

Well im thinking that my nephew wont be there anyhow and I can get his gift to him anothe time. My father's was a secong gift.
That sucks with E-toys. Reminds me of a bowling I was in where the treasurer disappeared the week of payout with 6 figures. Noone got any money after 36 weeks of bowling.
