er... I asked you to dance... graemlins/thumbsup.gif I got there at about 9:30 and the lil dude with the dreads didn't know anything about DHP... So I stepped inside and saw only 3 or 4 people that's why I left and came back later... I wasn't disappointed really...

I enjoying seeing so many DHPers, whether or not they came in time for the "cocktail" portion of the evening. It was great seeing Ron C and his lovely wife; Larissa; Torin; Steve Maxwell; Jozana; Mack-Williams; Glenn Underground; Craig Alexander; Boo Williams; Whyteout (I know Ms. Lalabug was there too, just didn't run into her); Cordell; Greg Gray; my girl Mynia (and her cousin); DJ CHEEZ; Jamie 3:26 a/k/a "Big Sexy"; BHouse; JMJ; Terry; of course, my hubby Jotex; and the non-DHPers who came out (esp. my cuz from CA)! It was cool chatting with Theo Parrish for a minute, too, since I was there to hear him. ;) ;)
Now, on to recovering from too many cocktails...
Oh, and MIA: Richierich...what happened, man????

My ride stood me up..so I couldn't make it. Like anything a cocktail party or any party is what you make it. It takes the people that attend parties to make it a party. What was the problem if there were any???

I was like if you don't know.... You don't know! I was asking everybody there if they were there for DHP even some people in VIP were kinda "stand-offish..." I am terrible at remembering names (silence JMJ), so I can't tell you who they were... I am going to try to be at the Dark Room on the 22nd... I was there last night too. i did however speak to a couple of people who were there because they "heard" there was a dhp thingy going on. they had no clue theo parrish was playing. they were there for dhp.
slick's staff not knowing what's going on is nothing unusual. when we had the "official" dhp party labor day weekend, i had to give one of the bouncers a flyer and he still didn't know what the hell was happening. someone from inside had to let him know.
slick's staff has been know to have issues from time-to-time. no biggie. you did say you had a good time right? i'm done.

The cocktail hour was about was putting some faces with some names and maybe getting to know people off the board. I got to put a face to the names Diskoqueen99 and BHouse, that was well worth the trip out the house. I got there too late to have cocktails with a few of you but I did have dinner with Discogoddess, Jotex, & their cousin. I got to see some people I haven't seen in awhile. As far as I am concerned the mission was accomplished for me. You get what you give in gatherings like this, if you stand around breathing negative energy what do you expect to get? If you showed up expecting some grand event for a DHP cocktail hour instead of coming to meet a few people you cyber with, I can see why you think it fell short. I had good conversation with Diskoqueen, JMJ, Part Sixx, Theo, and got to speak to a few of you for a hot second. I hope to see you guys on the 22nd smile.gif

As far as the other comments, not sure what people were expecting in the way of some grand DHP party, but that was never the design. A couple of folk simply suggested that it might be cool if DHPers got together B4 the place filled up to drink and talk. From my vantage point, folk chose not to do the early-arrival drink thing, but decided to come later, and mingle where and with whom they felt comfortable. Perhaps that was the genesis of any feelings of
standoffishness...that folk decided to chill at the bar and/or in groups with whom they were familiar, rather than the reserved spot? graemlins/conf44.gif
At the end of the day, I had a good time, sounds like some other folk did too, and that's what counts.

This is starting to sound very juvenile.It's quite embarassing.So what,shit didn't turn out as expected.
Now what should be done and noted is how to avoid having these problems at future places folks want to meet each other at.
Maybe a name tag or something is not a bad idea.
