Hi, fam!
I'm still recovering from Saturday! graemlins/sleep2.gif
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the Unity picnic & the afterset @ Orlys.
For those who missed it, YOU MISSED IT!
The DHP fam was in full force for the picnic and the vibe was contagious!
It was good to see families come together in celebration of House Music and the love that binds our famililes together.
And the kids had a great time, too!
And just when you think it couldn't get much better, the afterset was.... well, the SHIT! graemlins/grinyes.gif
hail.gif Alan King, Marbll and JMJ were outstanding!
Hell, we had to beg people to leave!
There are just way too many people to thank for supporting, so all I can say is.... graemlins/remybussi.gif love to you, one and all!
Special love goes out to those who helped put this special day on point:
Jam-Master J ( my right hand)
DJ Chex
Sherman Oliver
DJ JM3 (you my guy!)
Jamie 3:26
Greg Grey (and his mom, Mrs. Grey! She was a God send!)
Paula Harris of Groove Parlor TV
Mr. & Mrs. V-Rod
Alan King (what a talent! Thanks, cat!)
DJ Marbll (always there! Love!)
Gale Washington & "Sis"
Leonard "Remix" Rroy (for being a good friend)
The staff of Orly's Cafe & the Forest Preserve
of Cook County
and to all who supported both events! graemlins/acclaim.gif
And extra special love (with mild sauce) goes to Mr. & Mrs. G-Man! graemlins/remybussi.gif
Without you, we wouldn't have a family, in the first place!
Thank you for blessing us with DeepHousePage and for co-hosting this event!
You two are some of the coolest House Headz.... ever!
And, yes, we will have another one, next year!
Hope to see you at Orly's tonight with B-day boy Faire One and myself on the wheels!
Again, thanks and long live the DHP Fam! graemlins/OLA.gif
One Love! graemlins/remybussi.gif
P.S.: More pics are coming soon!

Stone groove brother.I hope folks got to eat some of those polishes I brought. :D
We were done after leaving the picnic, plus I had quite a nice amount to drink. We were vip at Snorly's instead of Orly's.
I now have a little more time to properly thank everybody, not just for an outstanding weekend, but also for letting me be me. I dropped out of the Chicago scene altogether in 1987 and headed back to where I began in the south suburbs. After 15 years away from the Chicago scene and the deep house community, I re-emerged last year hoping to be able to give back a little something. I missed REAL house music. 15 years of playing to mainstream audiences had run it's course, and I felt like maybe it was time to give it up. Then I stumbled onto DHP, and the rest is history. I quit a very good paying club gig out here in NW Indiana, re-committed myself to my musical roots, and the rest is history, largely because you(DHP Family) accepted me into your family, into your ears, and into your souls. For that I am eternally grateful. It took a few months to shake the rust, but for any of you that's heard me in the last couple months, I think you know I'm back in a big way, and it's because of you. My best is yet to come. Thank you so much, and I love you all...... graemlins/acclaim.gif graemlins/acclaim.gif graemlins/acclaim.gif
I'd like to thank everybody involved with the picnic: DJ Chex - You've got Carte Blanche with me! Anything you need, just say the word....
Sherman Oliver - Nice to see a fellow old-schooler doin' his thing!
DJ JM3 - The Rodney Dangerfield of the Chicago scene! Keep doin' your thing, my friend!
Greg Gray - I'm glad we finally got to play at the same party! Looking forward to the next time!!
Jamie 3:26 - Friends til the end!! Great set, and thanks again for the Bud!!
Thanks to G-Man and Linda for sharing their time with us! Thanks to my good friends Leonard Remix Rroy, V-Rod & Erica, Paula Harris, and the RELAX crew! You guys are the best!!
The DHP Summer Jam @ Orly's Saturday night was unbelievable!! House music is alive and well in Hyde Park!! We got off to a slow start, but had a full house and packed dance floor by midnight< and it stayed that way until close!! Nobody wanted to leave!! I'm not sure what got into me other than more Bud, but the musical wrath of JMJ was unleashed Saturday night!! It was a truly special night for those who missed it..... Special thanks to :
DJ Marbll - Great set, and thanks for playing with us once again!! You made my job easy!
Alan King - Hit'em hard with the new stuff!! Fantastic set!! I'm already looking forward to next time!!
Thanks to the wonderful staff at Orly's for letting us bring the music back to Hyde Park! we're truly onto something special.... hail.gif
Last but not certainly not least, my heartfelt thanks to my partner in crime, Leonard Part Sixx. Leonard deserves the credit for putting the picnic together and taking it from a simple idea to the finished product. He puts up with my shit on a daily basis, and that's tough to do. He welcomed me into his musical family, and has stuck by me through thick and thin. He's a true friend, and one of the hardest working guys on the scene. Leonard - Thank you for letting me do my thing! I'm eternally grateful for the opportunity..... hail.gif
Thanks again everybody!.....JMJ graemlins/acclaim.gif

Just wanted to thank Leonard and JMJ for inviting me to be part of Saturday's events. We are all very fortunate that you two cats have come together. You guys are putting in the work to help make this thing come alive again--and you're doing it in the right ways for all the right reasons. What you're building will continue to grow and prosper, no doubt.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank Gman once again. What you've created is nothing short of amazing. Like JMJ, I was all but retired from the scene from 1985-2000. Then I stumbled upon this wonderful community of music, friendship and family (and, ok, a little drama now & then). DHP has definitely rekindled my passion for my first love. The history books will not forget you, Gerard. We all owe you a great debt for allowing us to hang out in your home.

same time, next year! Ken, I wish you guys had introduced yourselves Sat. night. Would have loved to have met you.
I don't want to set David off (whom I have the utmost respect for), but the "AK's Loft Classics" thing was obviously a reference to a spot we called the "Loft" in Chicago, where I (along with Wayne Williams and Tony and Andre Hatchett) were in effect resident DJs in 1980-81. Perhaps we were naive at the time, but none of us at that time--teenagers in Chicago--had heard of David's "Loft" in NY. Our space was called the Loft because it was just that--a Loft. (There was also a short-lived spot known as the "New Loft," but I digress.) Anyway, our Loft was very special to us and I think it's fair to say was one of--along with Frankie's Warehouse--the original cornerstones of the underground club/house scene in Chicago. Chip E's upcoming film, the UnUsual Suspects, includes a "chapter" on the Loft--which was apparently very influential to him and many other party-goers, future DJs, house producers, etc. Just felt like getting a little "Chicago Loft" history on the table.
