Moms is an old head, she says she used to hang out at a place called buttermilk bottom.I put some old slow songs on her ipod and she wants some dance stuff. She wants to come outbut i think she would be a little freaked out by what she see's.You know older folk are used to very controlled enviornments where people dress up.I told her you come as you are,i think larry's liquid love would be cute for her or a dance at the masonic temple.

PHC if your mother used to hang out at Buttermilk, you better be careful....she just may put a hurtin' on you. That space was no joke, nither were the folks who fell up in there. Take her out and enjoy the ride!

Hey Babe, I took my mother to Charades! OMG she got so drunk and just showed out all the way home!

My mother is a dancer and what surprised me more was when she came to one of my parties and everybody danced with her all night!

Called the next morning sore as all get up!

Take you moms out Phyllis! You will be surprised. We must remember Our parents havent always been old! at one time in life they were young and vibrant, and who's to say that she is not still vibriant but just a little older. Where do you think you get your love for music from anyway? Plus it might be a great way to bond with her on an Adult to Adult level. Try it you may just have a ball with her.

my mom refuses to go to any clubs with me
she actually refuses to even let me mention them, she hates them and hates more than anything that i go to them ... she's constantly saying things like "when are you going to grow out of that" or, worse, "don't you want to me higher quality people. you should be looking to meet different people."

 :mad1:

i think it's cool when i see people bring family members out to show them what they enjoy. a young man brought his folks out a few weekends ago to 18 street lounge and i was envious his parents were the sort who wanted to see what their son enjoys ... and they looked like they were having fun. everyone was introducing themselves to them and welcoming them. lol

my mom came to Shelter with us once... she had fun.. and was very amused with the stretching, walking it out and baby powder preparations/ritual this one girl was going on with.

She thought the music got better after Timmy came on which was cool to hear because 1. she doesn't listen house 2. she doesn't know who Timmy is and could care less who the dj is.

Brought my mom out to hear David Mancuso when he was here last December, as did a another friend. They didn't stay out too late but they both loved it, especially the sound quality and comfortable volume level.

My Moms got me one of my first paying DJ gigs! I bugged out because it was all for people her age (20-30s) and I threw on You Make Me Feel Mighty Real by Sylvester and they lost it! I was only thirteen but it was the hot jam at the time and to see those "old folks" enjoying "my music" was a treat....as for hanging out we did and I miss hearing her shout HOT CHOCOLATE (her self- given nickname) Thanx Silky you just brought me a great memory.............HOT CHOCOLATE!

I would love to be able to take my mom out with me,
but her diabetes has gotten worse in recent months (she's on the shot).

She loves to party with us...LOVES HOUSE/DISCO; she loves to dance..and trust me, "the men all pause"....mama ain't no joke:wink:!! My mom plays a very big part in me having a LOVE/PASSION for what I do..She use to party HARD back in the day; she taught me a lot of what I know in terms of music....as Celeste said "where do you think we get it from"...Both my parents have BOXES of records that I WISH I could get my hands on that are worth gold to us....but yeah, I love to party with my mom; Jackie is a HOT MESS:lol:

My mom and I have hung out together many times-- Shelter, Tea Party, Together in Spirit, Rhythm Revue Dances, Devotion in San Francisco. No bigggie. Don't jump to conclusions about where she'll fit based on her age-- many of the regulars are older than you think.

I'm still trippin' off the name of the club--Buttermilk Bottom.

Take ya mom out. If mine didn't wane on me about 10 PM I'd have her out, too.

When I was a teenager, we went to a reggae dance hall party, she loved it (even more than me) she's into hip hop a bit too (more than I am) and I know she's been to some rap concerts. In NYC, we went together to S.O.B.'s to see Tito Puente in 1999 (Adam Cruz was there, hello...) and to some weird underground jazz clubs...

She's actually less conservative than I am...

Bring your mother out (chose a place when it's not too loud though.)

Peace.

but she's a stepper. I'm quite sure she would never come out with me. First of all, I don't like to leave before midnight (too late for her to start the night) and it'd be too loud/too dark/too crowded/ to something or another

I can just see her at the DJ booth

um, baby? can you turn that down some?

and to the people at the door:

scuze me, baby, can ya'll turn on some lights? I can't see! and I needs a chair!!!
