I`ve not been about much recently and no doubt this topic has been covered but being a lazy bastard I aint done a search. Anyone confirm if there is a second release as I hear rumours as it been a limited promo only and will not be getting a full release. Any info appreciated.

ran into a one-sided mahogani release "runaway" at the store the other day but had to pass on it -
and im talking as a HUGE fan of KDJ, that cut just didn't move me. Seemed very static, not as original as the bulk of his work
now of course that passed on it will hear it in a club and it will totally change perspective on it, never find it again - always the way

passed on it.
Sort of like the amp dog joint.

I passed on the AMP DOG track about 6 times and eventually ended up with the bootleg and the original. Top Gear........

What exactly is the deal with that AmpFiddler 12" "superficial"?
It's really growing on me. The remix of "Superficial" is kinda dope. And the 2 songs on the B-side are cool too.
However, Moodyman is only credited on one song.
What's the deal, i.e. who made these tracks, have their been previous AmpFiddler 12"s?

The Amp Fiddler track is well overlooked. In my opinion it's HOTT.

the new moodyman is cool, it just aint for me. it reminds me of long hot sexy nights (1st version), sort of meant to sound like a live jam session with band introductions and all. First saw it last week with a plain sleeve, now there is a sleeve with a sticker on it saying Pitch Black...

#3 is 'runaway', #2 is the promo record that is apparently limited.

pitch black city - runaway is mahogany 03, mahogany 02 apparently only got released as a promo in detroit.
there's a sound clip of pitch black city up on the submerge website (http://www.submerge.com) didn't do too much for me.
the new psychostasia sounds much more promising [a.o. tony drake]
there were [atleast] two amp fiddler releases before 'i'm doing fine'; the earlier mentioned 'superficial' and a 7" from a few years earlier. and there's a new amp fiddler coming up on genuine: 5 tracker with a remix by kdj of the track 'eye to eye' [the stand out track of the 'superficial' release imho.]

jurren you're right about Eye to Eye, it's killer, it's a nice ep altogether though. Carl Craig mentioned in an interview that there was an unreleased remix of Superficial, about which he said the A&R should be sacked for not releasing it!
Regarding Runaway, it is a very nice track, time will change some I'm sure, oh and yeah it's mahogani 03.
Did 'doin fine' get a proper re-release now, I know a couple of stores had restocks of the original over the last week.

I like the last Amp Fiddler record some but I liked Runaway way better instantly.
Something about the way Roberta Sweed's voice moves around on the record.

I picked up, "Runaway".
Dope record.
I didn't like it too much in the first run. Maybe expectations were too high. But I grabbed it nonetheless and got to say that even if it's not 100% my sound aesthetics, I like it. Go and get it, before you regret it.
Peace,
Gerd

Just checked the Hard To Find Records Website and it has that so called bootleg of 'I`m Doing Fine' on MDM as being a Theo Parrish remix. Anyone know if this is true ?

Craig it does have a decent copy of Black Mahogany from KDJ 017, that is worth the admission price, the other side is Amp Dog Knight original mix from mahogani 01.

ok, from what i know Amp Fiddler used to be session musician for Prince and other blokes and often did key work for Carl Craig and Kenny Dixon.
Pitch Black is Moodyman's new live project - there will also be a track on the forthcoming Kenny dixon album on Peacefrog ( which is in parts harder, more techno than his usual stuff)

Danny thanks mate. I`ve got the original of I`m Doing Fine and the so called bootleg on MDM. I was just confused a bit when I seen www.htfr.co.uk (http://www.htfr.co.uk) claiming the MDM1 was a Theo remix thats all.

And of course Amp Fiddler is also Amp Dog Night, and plays on most KDJ records
The new Amp Fiddler EP Love & War is very cool BTW - got that D'Angelo 'Spanish Joint' lo-fi samba vibe. I think you will all be feeling it. The Jan mixes on Amp Fiddler's 12"s are the ones by KDJ.
