Saturday 24 November -- Rick Wilhite (3 Chairs/Detroit)
The Sebright Arms (Basement)
34 Coate Street, Bethnal Green, E2 9AG
8pm-4am // £5 before 10pm - £10 after
TOTHEBONE: Plubber's Paradise
Nestling quietly in London's trendy East London's dangerous Hackney,
The Sebright Arms has played host to some of the club circuit's hottest
singers - Steve Brookstein (X Factor), Ian Moore ('Chris de Burgh' on
Stars In Their Eyes), Michael Elphick (Boon) and many, many more.
This November, The Sebright welcomes its biggest guest yet - Detroit's
Rick "The Godson" Wilhite. Along with bandmates Theo Parrish and Kenny
Dixon Jr, Rick makes up one-third of Detroit's leading Commodores'
tribute act - The Three Amigas.
You'll also know the Three Amigas from their sideline DJ/production
project - 3 Chairs. Ripping through house, disco, soul and techno,
Rick's 3 Chairs DJ sets (alongside Marcellus Pittman, Theo and KDJ)
have rocked house music's most discerning dancefloors.
A proper party DJ with an awesome record collection, Rick's our biggest
booking to date. It's his first London gig since Plastic People's 3
Chairs night in 2002. And he's playing for 4 hours.
The party's in the basement. The ceiling's low, the soundsystem's big
and we've got the run of the rest of the pub too. Pick up sunday's lamb
shanks from the meaty-faced man in the corner, fling down a few arras
in our topless darts tournament (men only - sorry ladies), and be sure
to have a song ready for the 4am garyoke contest.
Come and have a dance. If you don't, we'll lose lots of money.
**
Nearest tube is Bethnal Green and nearest mainline station is Cambridge
Heath. Just after the Hackney City Farm there's an alleyway that leads
from the Hackney Road down to the pub (there's a sign for the pub next
to the alley). The 55 and 48 buses stop just past the alley.
