2 questions:

Is that track recent or did somebody use an older acapella? I'd be curious to hear the original.

What was the producer smoking when he/she made the dub on the B-side?

At first I was like, considering who it was it didnt make sense, but then it did.

Its like the most played shit in NY right now, Ill tell you that.

The fucking production on the Bass and the Drums tip is fucking insane.

Mental Problems is still my shit though. That real Chicago shit.

What was the producer smoking when he/she made the dub on the B-side? Its from 2002. From Natalie Cole's last album. The cut is called "Tell me all about it".But her's is a remake of of Michael Franks' that he did early 80's.

Hearing the original, it's clear that Mr. Smithee used the CD version and just built on it.

So I guess nobody's gonna touch the "what was he smoking" part of that question, huh?

But I do like this mix!

But the cat's out the bag, now!!!! Go 'head and remix La Costa while y'all at it!!!!!

Hey J!

Based on his posts here on the board, I would assume Mr. Smithee was smoking a Dust, Dro combination while popping half a V every three to four hours and washing it all down with some very fine bourbon.

mad1.gif </font>[/QUOTE]Gotta disagree. If you can time-stretch, edit, reproduce, or whatever to a track and present it to a completely different audience than it was intended, then more power to ya. Yes, there are some time-stretched productions that are not very good, but transcending genres in the name of good music is EXACTLY what's needed to draw new blood to the scene. Just my opinion........JMJ

I couldn't agree more JMJ...this is definitely a start and at the very least, MAYBE some of our R&B, Hip-Hop loving younger generation can appreciate hearing some of their current favorites in a danceable format while still sounding much like the original version...hey, it is a start smile.gif

This is one of the reasons why I love house music so much. It is indeed its own genre, but its roots are deep. I grew up listening to the music of my parents (b/c we didn't have much access to contemporary Black music where we lived). I've noticed many of the songs that really grab me are connected to music from back in the day.

A good remix of a good song is just plain sweet like candy.

So easy a protic can do it (QUAD)

sorry guyz only a couple these time stretched remix haved really worked 4 me (& thats streching it a bit)
its the same ole 1 4 me "HOUSE" djs need 2 "stretch" out of the typical "boom ch chi boom chi boom" vibe and play maybe some younger vibes in its original format
theres need 2 b more concern about "dancing" and "dance music" than this tired formular
wich is more miss than hit IMO!

Time-stretched or not...it sounds good. Sometimes when you time stretch, the outcome is distorted; but this one sounds good. I wonder what he used...Roland VP-9000?
