Yall: Jotex and I went to see the Queen of Soul @ Ravinia last night and we enjoyed ourselves. However, I was REALLY puzzled by Re Re's decision NOT to do many, many of her all-time jams, like:
Who's Zooming Who
Rock Steady
Do Right Woman
Dr. Feelgood
Giving Him Something He Can Feel
Rose in Spanish Harlem
Ain't No Way
Jump to It (Well, I didn't really expect her to do that one, but it would have been nice)
Freeway of Love
She was in a real downtempo groove and you could tell she wasn't trying to use her full voice. I love her still, but I don't think we got what we came for...any thoughts?

For minute I thought I missed visits and why didn't anyone tell me that I would have a gathering. Then I remembered that I was only named after Aretha Franklin not as famous :D
Okay I am being silly today. But I thought Ravinia was about being downtempo and not rocking graemlins/conf44.gif I remember Ravinia to headline a lot of jazz and classical musicians.
What did she sing? How was she?

What did she sing? How was she? I didn't realize your name was Aretha, Ms. Girl! Next time I'll specify which one I'm talking about in my thread title... ;)
Well, it's true that a lot of jazz (really dug McCoy Tyner and Dee Bridgewater there) and classical musicians play Ravinia, but I have enjoyed some hot sets by George Benson, Tito Nieves (papi chulo!!!!) and Celia Cruz ( hail.gif )@ Ravinia, so I expected Re Re to be cooking as well. From what I remember, she sang "Respect" and "Think"....the other stuff I either can't remember or didn't recognize. I thought she was holding back a bit on the vocals, but she sounded good. A bit raspy, but sweet and soulful as always.

She should have sung "Jump To It" as the encore. She would have brought down the house. And the stage. Show's over. Goodnight everybody.....JMJ ;)
