Get the Video he did with Jerry Jemmot in 1984. Classic. Might be on DVD by now. Some of that stuff he does on bass is sick!!!!! But the beauty of it is that he makes every lesson musical!!!!!!

One of the greatest Jazz Bassists in modern times. Working with the Group Weather Report, artists like Joni Mitchell, and Pat Metheny. One of the very few Jazz Bassists, or Electric Bassists that had a "Distincive" sound and style of playing. Some consider him to be the last Jazz Musician to have a major impact on Jazz and other genres of music.
To help some of those who have not heard of Jaco, listen to some of the Basslines that Gene Perez has contributed to House, especially Gene's contribution to the Nu Yorican Soul and Black Magic projects.
Also check out John Patticucci, Chick Corea's Bass Player from the Chick Corea Electic Band and Acoustic Band projects from the 80s and early 90s. You will definately hear Jaco's influence.
Peace

Didn't he end up getting beaten to death in an alley or something? I know he was notorious alcoholic.
