well i dunno, presumably they know the average number of grains of rice in a 1kg bag then when the totals get to that amount they add another bag to the pile...

its a wicked idea tho and it doesn't take much effort from the internet user which is the important thing

Are they a non-profit organization? I searched their FAQs and about page, there's nothing saying explicitly that they are a nonprofit organization.

point being, everytime you answer a question you see a number of sponsors listed, & their money is buying the rice. is it also going into the pocket of some crafty businessman? 10 grains of rice don't cost much
