View Full Version : MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRLFRIEND JUST ASKED ME TO...
BHouse

Strip at a party she is having Saturday night??? My best friend and I were suppose to be going out of town this weekend to party... I decided not to go opting to take my kids trick or treating... His girlfriend is throwing a party for all her female friends and asked if I would strip??? My buddy being funny is like, "get that money..." I am not going to do it, but my question is WOULD YOU ALLOW YOUR BUDDY (FEMALE/MALE) STRIP AT A PARTY FOR YOUR FRIENDS IF YOU WERE NOT IN TOWN...?
*NOT TO MENTION I NEED TO WORK OUT MORE...

um, that's kind of weird. i mean what if the girlfriend has ulterior motives? it might be different if you were already a stripper or something.
http://deephousepage.com/smilies/daz.gif ultimately it's up to you.

If you say okay, then your friend is going to wonder why you'd do it knowing he's out of town and wonder if you'd do it if he WAS in town; he's going to think you like his girl; he's going to have trust issues with you. Glad to hear you're not going to do it, but turn it around on him. Ask him why, even jokingly, he'd suggest you do it and "get that money."

They generally turn into super long threads about absolutely nothing, with a bunch of nutt-hugging and stupid smilies. It's like listening to a conversation between a bunch of 12-year olds. I DO move on, but it has become such a daily occurence that I thought it was worth a snide remark. The pattern seems to dictate that it is the newer members that do it most often, which is strange, as one would assume that they have the least social experience here.
I don't think there is a problem with non-music threads, if the original topic is PARTICULARLY interesting or funny...then fine. Or if it is a good topic to spark a meaningful discussion, then that is awesome.
But the constant plea for attention and "social" acceptance is becoming the norm here. For the adults reading, it gets pretty old. . .

Just a little confused. Being as outspoken as you are, I would think you'd have no problem starting your own thread where the issue could be discussed and hopefully wouldn't deteriorate into one of those ... :the rest of whatever you were talking about: In your humble opinion of course.

Are you speaking for the board? The people who post lame topics? Or are you just intent on being condescending?
So, even though you find my criticism valid, you think that such criticism is annoying? You don't like people posting opinions aimed at improving the site? How is the board supposed to regulate itself if members are unwilling to comment on what they see as bad trends?
I'm baffled that you find the following 2 things equally annoying: 3 pages of "My boyfriend wants to put it in my butt, should I do it?" threads. And, a single post pointing out how ****ing lame such a thread is?
Under 2 aliases, over a few years, I've always tried to add thoughtful comments to the topics on this board. And, when my knowledge is up to it, some interesting tidbits about music. I feel like I've been here long enough and contributed enough to legitamately provide such commentary.

1. I made the comment here, because this is the latest in the trend I described.
2. My answer was ironic. The point is, he said, "why do people always make comments like this." Which is, in itself a hypocritical comment, as he is doing exactly that which he is criticizing. My reply was pointing out the irony by repeating (and adding another layer to) the irony. That should have been obvious, as I pointed out the hypocracy in the following sentence.
3. Your rhetorical questions "So no one was supposed to respond to you? Don't speak until you say so? 'Cause you're one of the adults with more social experience right?" prove that you missed the point, and add nothing to this discussion, so I won't respond.
4. Finally, this is the perfect thread to respond on, seeing as how the people I want made aware of my criticism are all here. Why start a new thread?

Don't like the thread? Do what I do and move on. Honestly, it's not about this particular thread. . .it's about this growing trend where people tell a bunch of strangers about some detail in their personal life and ask for advice.
For the adults reading, it gets pretty old. . . </font>[/QUOTE]As the adult that you claim to be, you should then close the thread and move on..
If people feel comfortable enough to dish out their personal problems for advice let them...
You don't like it.. YOU DON'T DO IT... isn't that simple..

MYOR—
As you will see if you search the database, I haven't made a habit of making such comments...hence, 99.9999% of the time, I do close them and move on. The abundance of such threads encouraged me to post the one time. In doing so, I have single-handedly turned this thread into one with some substance. (Feel free to thank me later.)
Also, these are not threads that are really about "advice." They are a cry for pseudo-love from anonymous "cyber-buddies."

Let's just try to keep it to a minimum in the future. I'm sure the board will be better for it. Your gratitude is warmly accepted.
I don't think that 10 more paragraphs will be necessary. Sorry if you find my posts too lengthy. Unfortunately, I have yet to aquire the ability to communicate exclusively through smilies. As for my intellegence, I'm not sure how that enters into either the original topic or my responses. I guess my intelligence is too meager to decipher the veiled insult being hurled at me.
If you are being sarcastic in your gratitude, then apologies too, if I have made this excellent, stimulating topic less interesting.

Excuse "us"? Who, exactly, is "us"? Are you speaking for the board? The people who post lame topics? Or are you just intent on being condescending?
"For the adults reading, it gets pretty old. . ."
Us = adults
So, even though you find my criticism valid, you think that such criticism is annoying? You don't like people posting opinions aimed at improving the site? How is the board supposed to regulate itself if members are unwilling to comment on what they see as bad trends?
What you may not like others might.
I'm baffled that you find the following 2 things equally annoying: 3 pages of "My boyfriend wants to put it in my butt, should I do it?" threads. And, a single post pointing out how ****ing lame such a thread is?
Actually, I find those "this thread is lame" posts more annoying. Find comments like that to be kinda self centered.
Under 2 aliases, over a few years, I've always tried to add thoughtful comments to the topics on this board. And, when my knowledge is up to it, some interesting tidbits about music. I feel like I've been here long enough and contributed enough to legitamately provide such commentary.
You defintely have put in your time. I hope you don't take my argument personally. I won't be responding to this for the rest of the day. Enjoy your weekend!

B is in the House... Now that I am back let me comment on the earlier posts... I do not look for acceptance from anyone on DHP...I like when members post topics outside of music. It gives me an idea of their personality... Some members don't have a personality that is why they moan and groan about things they can't relate to... I accept criticism better than most egos on this board. What anyone thinks of BHouse I could care less about... My posts may seem stupid or whatever to whoever... I really don't care to B'honest with you... If we discussed HOUSE music 24/7/365 it would drive most people away from DHP... This is why most of us continue to log on to see what will someone post next... If it don't apply let it fly...

Deciding not to strip for your boy's girlfriend's party was the best decision you could have made. I've learned the hard way that trust is very hard to regain once someone's lost it for you.
Note: The DHP message board is not confined to talking about strictly music. The DHP attracts people of similar music interests so they can talk about whatever they want to. If this board was all music threads none of us would actually learn about each other. I wouldn't have known how to handle a serious credit situation I was going through. Leonard Part Sixx might not had the strength and encouragement he needed when his mom was sick. We wouldn't know what each other looked like. There are many more examples of why non-music related threads are not only necessary, but vital to the survival of the DHP message board.

NOBODY proposed less non-musical threads. Please read my criticism. . .it has nothing to do with music vs. non-music threads.
