Often on this board, I see lots of posts related to bad encounters with people or gripes about people. This morning I was going to post a different type of message and got drawn in (in a fun way) to 6 23's thread about her clubnight drama.
Now that I've pulled myself out of that thread, I'm back to wondering...
Do you encounter people who make you feel good? People that uplift you? People who make you remember that everyone is not shady, insecure, crafty, etc.? What are some of the positive things you've experienced related to people lately?
I'm asking because someone, through his actions, reminded me that all is not lost and not everyone is screwed up and out to do damage (intentionally or not).
I'm sure there's a possible music-related response, so this thread doesn't have to be way off topic from House. :D
Yo! nice thread!
I have to say that I met some VERY refreshing people and when it comes to close friends, I have been blessed.
And to relate to your remark that this thread is not an off-topic, I met a board member a year ago when I arrived in Holland, he rarely posts on the board but I got to know him and his wife through the DHP. It was only two weeks after arriving in Holland, I met him (Gregor, aka Caseem) and we went to a party that night. Him and his wife have been two people that have put things in perspective for me. Really cool people, down to earth and sometimes, it's striking how you can meet someone and look into their eyes and say "yeah, we'll be just fine". That's a great feeling. It's good to know that there are good people out there.
I have to say i very rarely have met people through the club environment that became life-long friends. This proves that DHP is not just about clubbing ;)

To be honest... DHP makes me feel good... smile.gif
I post on several different boards because I really don't have a 'board home'...
I enjoy coming here because I'm a novice in House Music, not a DJ, and I learn so much just by lurking...
It's funny... I'd rather be in the company of people who know more than I do than in the company of people I know more than...
People on this board are mature, witty, intellegent, diverse and knowlegeable... who are drawn together by the love of House music...
I would like to make friends here... you guys are a great group of people!!!

I've met some good people within the scope of house since I decided to take my interest in Djing outside of my basement. :D
Everyone that I've contacted for advice, posting mixes, etc. has been really cool. I've had the displeasure of dealing with shady types at work, with family members, as well as with people I run across in the street. So it was (and still is) refreshing to find so many good people in the house community.
DHP has been especially cool for me. Yeah there's a little drama, some differences between members here and there, but that doesn't bother me. Everyone that I've met in person from DHP is cool as shit.
The thing that bothers me is, I think I will always have a guard up(it's more like a high voltage fence...)regardless of what I'm doing, be it positive or otherwise.

Today...
* The bus driver waited for me at the bus stop. He past me almost a block before that and saw me running.
* Someone had some good comments about a meeting I ran yesterday.
* Someone shared some insights regarding their perception of me and showed some support for a little project I'm working on.
It was a good day and I'm appreciative of any efforts - big or small...intentional or not - to make it such.
On the DHP tip (and that wasn't necessarily where I intend the thread to go)...I've definitely met good, supportive people on the board.
Now, if only I had a handful of daisies, I'd go run naked through the park. :D
