for any one who attended Kai Fikentscher's "House to Learn" series at Deep See, you know it is a time to learn or go deeper into a particular topic in house music via a combination of music presentation, lecturing/"liner notes"/and casual conversation afterwards...
Kai F. wrote "You Better Work," a book about dance music's roots in NYC, in gay culture, in disco, in the Paradise Garage, etc.
Some of Kai's past talks have been about gospel influence in house music, African influence in house music, "the remix," he did a whole evening on Larry Heard, etc.
So, "House to Learn" returns to Deep See @ SAPPHIRE BAR & LOUNGE this tuesday 6/17 on the topic "EARLY CHICAGO HOUSE". now i dunno bout you but i am very excited about this one...two hours of early, dusty chicago trax...not the ones you know, but stuff you ain't heard before!
