Is this who orignally did this song and are there any other versions out there???
Just Curious.
Sean
As far as I know, "Vinegar Stroke" is basically a Re-Edit of Kirokos "Life IS A Jungle" respectively "Jungle D.J." and is a hommage to Ron Hardy and his edit.
But I tend to mix this always up, so Black Cock, Harvey and Ron HArdy disciples, please correct me.
Peace.

You hit it on the head.We just called it Jungle Dj cause that's what the bootleg said.

Around what year did it come out and was it ever put out?
Where would I hear the original ( i.e. any mixes on this board?)???

Life Is A Jungle...
Thanks, but I spelled the original artist wrong:
it's by Kikrokos.
Peace.

It is on one of the Hardy mixes, I try to look it up for you...I think the original version was released on Lp in 1978...

It's on the LP 'Jungle DJ and Dirty Kate'...it's not that easy to find. But the original is really really cheesy and like Jamie says, it's all about the break, which is only about a minute long at the most.
Check this mix between the 15 and 18 minute mark.

Don't trip, if you can't find the Black Cock, rumour is that there will be a remake of Ron Hardy's edit available on the bootleg market soon. But I didn't told you so...
Peace.

I bought it back in the early 90's for $8-10. Keep it in my crate all the time!

Original also came out on 12" which I have. It's shorter than album mix but has all the important elements. Album has cool cover ( cartoon of a swinging jungle guy ala Tarzan and a big booty chick ).

Hello Sean,
All credit must be due to Gez , Harvey's partner on this edit 12" . Vinegar stroke is another slang term fro ejaculating if you did not know that . The other titles on that are slang for other things. I will leave you to figure them out..
i was told the record caused a nice comotion in NY as well with Hump playing it as well. Harv and Gez were on it from long ago - two lovely guys with dope ass record collections and DJ skills to boot !.
Peace Alex . :D

I'm still looking for this LOST Records version-

I've heard that Black Cock records go for a lot on Ebay but I will mos def keep this one. It's always been one of my favorites.
Reason I asked is becuase I heard Remix Rroy play a different version of it.
I think I heard Jamie play a different version of it also back in the Super Loft days. I dunno, I was probably just drunk. smile.gif

Those were probably Jamie and Leonard's individual edits so they probably were different Sean. Check the percussion cut on the flip as well as the Never Gonna Let You Go edit--DIRTY!!!
And just to try to clarify a little for Hippie--the actual cut is not Jungle DJ, it's Life Is A Jungle--the title on the boot just stuck(the blue label above)--even though it was wrong. There may be a promo only 12"(a polydor specialty)of Life is a Jungle--but I've never seen it!

Best edit for me was one Louis played--he used the spacey part just before the break--sounded much more dramatic!
