View Full Version : Shameless-New Mix-Hip Hop Samples

Dont usually shameless like this but this aint about skills or nothing, just spreading something different. I have always been fond of the way people sampled old tunes and made hip hop records, only to realize that the sampled jams were incredible themselves.
The mix contains records sampled by:
Biggie
JayZ
Tribe Called Quest
Pete Rock
Gagngstarr
Brand Nubian
Grand Puba
Ultramagnetic
Dr. Dre
Wu Tang
& more.
Sorry if this isnt anything new to you.
Also...dont even ask, or better yet here is the answer.."HELL NO mad1.gif ...I am not the owner of every record on this tape". I can only wish I was.

FYI, sometimes I find myself digging too deep and passing over records that seem more obvious, so I said **** it and picked up Isaac Hayes "Hot Buttered Soul" yesterday. Shit is BANGING!!!! "Who The Hell Is This?" LATE!
Also picked up Roy Ayer's Virgo Red album yesterday, love that "We Get Our Love From The Sun". Needed that one for a minute. LATE!
Last but not least, Patrice Rushen's "Before Dawn" is full of hot shit, jazz, funk, fusion, even a disco-ish track. I'm more familiar with her other hits. Blew me away... LATE!

Thanks for the interviews Donger. Some cool stuff.
I've been into sampling for awhile. I know alot of cats here do not like sampling, but sampling made me seek the original recordings. Recordings I was not even interested in until they were sampled. Now, I have a crazy Crusaders(and each members solo joints)collection that is fierce.

Sampling is one of the dopest musical art forms ever! Heads that are really into it realize how much harder it is than ordinary people think, and how much more creative you have to be to stand out, and to actually make the samples work on a technical, then musical level in harmony with the other samples. This shit aint easy. After working on beats for several years, my respect for a lot of dope hip-hop producers keeps going up and up and up...

I remember hearing Black Moon's Who got the props and going crazy. Played it for my father(cat got mad collectable), He pulled out the album and gave it to me. I forgot the name of the artist slips my mind, but I gave the name of the artist to my man Lupine, now he has that album also.
Nice 70s fusion type album.

Hey Donger, I always wondered if this album was made during two different time periods.
If you listen to "Who got the Props", "Son get Wrek", "U Da Man", and "Enta the Stage" you'll notice that Buckshot's flow is more aggressive and he tends to be much louder on these cuts.
But when you listen to "I got you open", "How many MCs", and "Slave", his flow is stands out more and he's much quieter.
You ever notice this?

I remeber when I first heard "Who got the Props", it blew my mind. Immediately after that tune the jock sliced in BYS by Gang Star...the first time I heard that tune.
You gotta add the "Buck em Down" remix to the Black Moon list....that tune just grooves
