Don't mean to sound like a smart-ass ... but no. We are and will always be stuck in the past. Only the elite few which gather here can I say have surpassed that stage. Outside of our lil clique, no. Just my two cents.

It's getting better, though!
DJ's here must continue to blaze new trails!

Passing out Free Mixed CD's where ever you go. With web site info and party info included with the CD. This would help them if they need information to find out where they find and hear the music if they like it.

It's making some progress. More and more people will have to get exposed to new music. Low power radio stations may be a good vehicle to start. Many people don't like the club environment, it will take something like radio to get it to the masses (and defeat Clear Channel and the like!!!).

There is also the issue of getting the music into the hands of the people (ie. people, not just DJ's buying the music so the artists can get paid properly and can do their craft full time).

Discogoddess hit it on the head about marketing. It's also about who is your target population (13 - 17, 18 - 25, 26 - 34, 35+, etc.). You definitely want to target the young, for they will be the music lovers of tomorrow who will continue the demand for good music. The marketing strategy has to be different (thanks to the MTV age, people are more interested in watching versus listening).

Just some thoughts,
