1 - gremlins - mom went to get popcorn and left me alone w/her single friend and her 2 sons; came back to find me hiding on the floor crying
2 - the birds - first time mom tried to leave me alone; she went to the A&P for a few short hours; came back to find me hiding under 4 blankets 'fraid of the birrrrrrrrds coming in

John Carpenter's "The Thing".
Scared the shit out of me.
So did "The Omen" and "Amityville Horror".

Maybe cuz I was young back then, but the first Nightmare on Elm Street had me sweating at night. They showed it at our school, believe it or not. Totally f*cked me up.
Later on, the Exorcist and then, to a certain extent, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (mostly due to that grainy feel the movie has).

Anybody see "28 days later"? It wasn't so much scary as it was disconcerting--one of those movies that reminds you of how close we are to being an uncivilized "society" (much like the novel "The Stand").

Does anyone remember "Tombs of the Blind Dead"? A bunch of corpses in hoodies riding on horses and killing people. I believe this was originally made in Spain (original title: La Noche del Terror Ciego). I remember seeing this movie on the Spanish channel back in the day and it was some freaky sh*t.

This one movie where these firebugs crawl out from deep inside the earth's surface after an earthquake and bore into people's brains, maybe called "The Bugs" or something. The one scene that traumatized me for life was where a firebug is hanging off a telephone earpiece when someone picks it up, and - BZZZZZZZAAAAAARRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP! I don't what my parents were thinking taking a 4-year old to the drive-in that night.

My movies were:
Nightmare on Elmstreet
Carrie
and this movie called Burnt Offerings

The only movie that ever scared me and I still refuse to watch to this day is Poltergeist.
Holloween 1-3 were the best!
Its an old ass movie which I don't remember the title, but I remember towards the end of the movie all these heads in the black hooded grim reeper type outfit with this dude carrying this big cross in a cemetery. It was on Creature Features if you remember that horror show back in the 70s. graemlins/scared.gif

I never liked scary movies. Hell, I used to cry when I heard the "Sea Hunt" music.
But the first movies to really scare me was "Revenge of the 50 Foot Woman." Man, that had me shaking the bed for years until I had a dream that she came to my house looking for Harry and put her hand out for me to ride in so we could go looking for him together.
The Exorcist had me up all night (pretending to rearrange my room, when my mom asked why).
Later The Thing (newer version) had me scare, but mostly because I was considering a job with Bendix in an isolated Alaskan location at the time.

It's not a movie, but I'm still afraid of this bitch.. she's called "La Llorona" (The cryer).... it's an old story that many Mexicans believe in. The story has been passed down for over 100 years. The story is that this lady drowned her children in the Rio Grande river, then regretted it later. Now when she gets near a body of water she can be heard crying. That shit freaked my little Mexican ass out to this day!!!! graemlins/bolt.gif

Oh Good Lawd yes!!! The monkey was one of my most vivid memories...
The producer of the flicks said that even tho it was true that people did that... that scene was a fake... he said that it was cauliflower covered in some red mess...
I have a strange facination with true crime... i just can't take the visual... too powerful, the images, cemented into my brain... lol

The Abominable Dr. Phibes with Vincent Price. Scared me so bad I called my mommy from a friend's house and begged her to come home so I could sleep at home.
There was also some movie where a lady is buried alive and you see her hand trying to claw through the soil as she attempt to get out. That totally freaked me out. I have no idea of the movie title. I saw ir probably around 1972 or so.

It was sort of an Amytiville ripoff, but it did have some eeries scenes. Kind of lame by todays standards, but still a fun movie to watch.
