AIDS or AIDS related symptoms??? I have lost many friends and am still losing them. I have often noticed how people start kinda distancing themselves from people that they even suspect of having HIV/AIDS and it saddens me. I wonder what the affected people feel when they notice people treating them differently... your thoughts.

Peace Or conversely, how people with HIV/AIDS start distancing themselves from others as either an act of altruism or to avoid being pitied.

From my experience volunteering and personal, people feel ashamed, especially when they are sick. They begin to feel as if they are a burden, most say that they would rather die than to be in their situations. A good friend of our family is dying, it's very sad to watch...but they need you just as much when they are able to get through their days as to when they are bed ridden...it's important to be sincere and a true friend...

I know of a few associates who passed away.I saw them get played basically.Folks dissed them.One of my old school buddies was sick and I had not seen him since his illness.I gave that brother a hug and bought him a brew.It didn't stop him from being the same cat he was before he was sick.

Some folks are just closed minded.

Nobody close enough that I would consider a friend (more of an acquaintance), but I have known a few people (teacher, doctor, friend of a friend, etc.) to get it and die from it. :(

This is the better question....asking if you know a friend who have died from aids in this day and age, is like asking if you knew someone with a cold...a sad commentary, I know. :(
