Declaring itself more than just "a radio company," Clear Channel Radio trimmed at least four staffers from its programming payroll Monday to shift its resources to Internet and sales ventures.<!--dropend-->

The end-of-the-year cuts came days after Clear Channel made similar moves in Los Angeles.

Topping the list was Armando Rivera, once considered a rising star, whose position was dropped as assistant program director and music director at urban adult-contemporary WVAZ-FM (102.7), known as V103.

Victor "The Diz" Blackful, a veteran of urban contemporary WGCI-FM (107.5), was laid off as evening personality. Replacing him alongside Frankie Robinson will be Leon Rogers, who had been morning traffic reporter.

I worked with the Diz at the 50 yard line in Harvey in the 90's and even though I wasn't impressed with the records he played he knew how to work a party.Sad that he got laid off hopefully he can get another radio gig.

First one hired, first one fired... Leon recently moved from 92.3 to WCGI not too long ago... His salary is much lower than Diz. Leon is very talented also.

Fuck radio.I feel you my father used to work for WVON back in the 60's and then came to Oklahoma to help start the first black owned station in Tulsa KKUL.Back then the radio DJs had so much freedom in the records they played so I think the music was so much better.Now clear channel tells you what to play to promote the artist that they have a financial stake in with concerts and merchandising.

You can have a #1 show and get whacked at WGCI/WVAZ, never get relaxed.

Naw...Leon is an old friend.We grew up together.They basically are setting up /grooming Leon to be a more exposed personality and trying to find a fit for him.

He was at another station and jumped ship to Gci earlier this year.

They have been changing things at that station for some time now.

Very true. He loves House and music from the 80's. His comedy show at the Estate on Tuesday nights were off the hook IMO.
