It was a different kind of tune at the time but I always like it. I heard it recently on the radio as well.

The reason why I couldn't stand it back then, because they played it too much and on the videos all the time even though the video was pretty cool. nowadays videos are boring.

The first version I heard was by Robey (1984) so I'm partial to that one! The original is still good tho!

Yes, it's Murray Head. However, Robey did a cover of it as well.
Head's version is the original stage version from the play "Chess."
I was spinning this party at a "St. Marys of the Woods" (Terre Haute, IN), and when I put this on, the sisters had a fit because of the word "Bangkok."

Bought both 12s back in 85. Murray Head's has the best vocal. I like the stronger drum beat on Robey's, though.

I have thrown the dub/instrumental of the Robey version into the mix...people always seem to recognize the melody, but without the words they're not sure where.
