Didn't order the fight. Have to wait until next week.
Didn't think Mayweather would knock him out. But we all knew Hatton didn't have the skills to compete. Hollywood is a mother#$. They hyped Hatton up big time.
Reading the reviews of the fight, seems like Mayweather took care of business. One thing I don't like about Mayweather is calling himself the greatest, but all the great fighters would finish their opponents when they had them beat. He did his job tonite.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall and hear the stuff Hatton's trainer is saying. Cuz he was talkin mad stuff on 24/7.

Not too sure about Cotto. Cotto showed me a lot when he fought that Columbia fighter. Dude had Cotto down and almost out. Cotto came back and knocked him out. Showed he has a heart of a champion.
Mayweather is great but I'm still not sure about his chin. We see what kind of chin Roy Jones had. He just had to slow down for us to find out.

ah well it was a good fight, Hatton had the earlier rounds but just couldn't land the proper punches, the odd jab that landed on his face wore him down as more and more landed... shame that... one thing tho - the ref was absolute shite! wouldn't let anything go on properly and kept breaking both of their strides...

Come on! You just told the out come of a Mayweather-Cotto fight. Is the Columbian fighter anything near a Mayweather? No, and he had Cotto down.
Well the Hatton fight was a no brainer. Stevie Wonder could have called that fight.
Now as far as the Columbia fighter. I can't recall his exact record but it was something like 25-0 (24 ko's). So dude had some punching power. Certainly more than Mayweather. Cotto was out in that fight. But he had the will to suck it up and came back. You can tell a lot about a fighter when they get clocked. Anyone who fights Cotto is gonna be in for a rough nite.
Mayweather is a blown up featherweight. Which is probably why he's not knocking a lot of fighters out. Would he be able to tag Cotto? Yes. But I would be curious to see how Mayweather reacts if Cotto catches him.
I don't think this would be a walk in the park for either fighter. Hopefully this fight happens soon. Cotto by far would be Mayweather's toughest fight.

Exactly. But guys wanna see Floyd hit. Yet the art of BOXING is hit and don't get hit back.
As for it being an easy fight to call. See how the majority of people on this board in the other thread seemed to think there was no way PBF would win.

nice fight. i thought floyd reminded me of jack johnson last night the way he sorta lazily fell back and absorbed hatton's push while delivering pin point counter punches when he got his chances. also like johnson, he doesn't like to get hit, which is pretty much the point, right? tough fight to score. i was giving ring generalship to hatton but even early on floyd was the more effective puncher imo.
cotto fight would be very interesting. even though he's outclassed by floyd, he's bigger and probably won't get hurt as easily as some of the smaller fighters like hatton and he has shown himself to be pretty tough but i wouldn't bet against mayweather vs. anyone right now...

Finally somebody said it... it's the ART of BOXING!
So true. That is the art of boxing.
But, and this is a big but. Mayweather has put himself out there, by calling himself the greatest. Even greater than Ali. The greatest???? When I think of great fighters, I think of Ray Robinson, Leonard, Hagler, Ali, etc. These great fighters had killer instincts. They could finish their opponents if they had them beat. To me, that is what makes a great fighter. Good ring generalship and the ability to ko a beaten opponent.
Mayweather, lately was content with just pot shotin his opponents. Great fighters don't pot shot. They take your azz outta there.
Even Mayweather knows that. I guess that's why after the Hatton fight he said his last few fights have been boring and he wanted to give the fans something. Looking at the highlights, it seems Mayweather fought like a great fighter last nite.
Mayweather is probably the greatest boxer of all time, but not the greatest fighter of all time. There is a difference between the two (imo).

Yeah, right!
Some points.....
1) The public doesn't know jack doo-doo about Boxing, or anything else for that matter. To say that Mayweather is not a great champion because he looks boring, means that most of the public don't know the specifics and intricacies of the sport! Check all of Floyd's opponents. Stop thinking that if a fighter looks tough and likes to brawl, he's a better fighter, and if a fighter is not a brawler, he's not a good fighter! By the way, there's a reason why those judges had it 8 rounds to 1 for Floyd!
2) Did y'all see Floyd pull out tricks we haven't seen before? Once again, y'all don't think he can fight, but he pulled out a jab probably for the first time in his career; add to that a straight right lead, which wore Hatton down! Oh, yeah, that special type of left hook that only fighters in the State of Michigan specialize in, which put Hatton's head into the corner rail!
3) Cotto's a great fighter, but his weakness is that he tends to get rocked in the beginning. He get's better as the fight goes on, as he goes to and kills the body. I'm gonna make a bold prediction. Based on all of that, Mayweather gets to Cotto early, and knocks him out in the 4th!

Floyd never got paid because, in addition to the brawl-requesting public, Floyd's management was horrible. That's why he signed Golden Boy as his promoter.
Speaking of Golden Boy, the brawl-requesting public didn't appreciate all those Oscar misses in slow-motion during the Floyd fight. That alone should have at least gave props to Floyd's defense!
Speaking of brawl, Arturo Gatti was a brawler, but had a great management machine, plus HBO, behind him. Those Gatti-Ward fights were so popular, that HBO contemplated putting Gatti-Ward III in black-and-white as a throwback to the fights of the 50s (that would have been cool, though!).

That was a totally awesome fight! I found Hatton to be a very skilled fighter, but lacking in composure. If he could get his emotions in order he would be able to focus his energies at winning the fight tactfully instead of flipping out.
His fellow Brits where also lacking composure as well. They seemed like a bunch of high schoolers.
As for Mayweather, goddamn! He did him the right way. Mayweather's method is very sneaky and subdued. If you get frustrated by his technique you pray to his traps. That's where Hatton messed up. Took 3 rounds for Mayweather to take Hatton seriously though. From the 4th through the 8th round he studied him. Come round 9 it was over in a flash.
Definitely worth the Pay-per-view cost.
Cheers Mayweather!!!

He also lost first 3 rounds to Judah. The man is a genius at adjusting. Much like Leonard who many hated on as well.
mayweathers good at beating up blown up lightweights and puts us to sleep when fighting over the hill fighters, , , hehehehehe

i'm still trying to figure out why some cats here put so much emphasis on the money???? you guys can't find any other legitimate criticisms of mayweather and his BOXING skills (remember, the sport is called BOXING), so you cats criticize about him being boring and not drawing big money??? is that all you mayweather haters have left???
if hatton was fighting someone other than mayweather, would he have gotten paid as much? nah, i forgot, mayweather is boring, and he never gets paid. he sucks. :frown:
cats are hilarious :biglaugha:
Thinking the samething! LOL!

Didn't order the fight. Have to wait until next week.
One thing I don't like about Mayweather is calling himself the greatest, but all the great fighters would finish their opponents when they had them beat. He did his job tonite.
Ali called himself the greatest!?! No problem with bravdo.... its that Money making persona I dislike about Mayweather... other than that... He's one of the greatest fighters I've ever watched!! Sweet Science!!

Ali was predicting rounds. Ali transceded boxing. Ali would finish his opponents.
If Mayweather fights like he did Hatton, then he could be the greatest. He has the skill and speed to finish his opponents. Don't be content with just sparring for 12 rounds. All great athletes have that killer instict. Not sure if Mayweather brings that to every fight. I think by Hatton calling him out brought it on. But then again, when you can beat your opposition so easily, maybe he just gets bored.
Would have loved to see a Mayweather vs Sweet Pea fight. That would have been a very tactical fight.

Would have loved to see a Mayweather vs Sweet Pea fight. That would have been a very tactical fight.A Mayweather-Witaker fight would have to go to Mayweather....simple reason....he used his footwork more than Sweat Pea. Sweat Pea was like a Marlon Starling (remember him?)--moved his body a lot to defend, but rarely used his feet. Mayweather used everything to defend...blocks, body movement, and feet!

And Sweet Pea had no punch.

I hear ya. It's all a guess. I don't know. Remember, Sweet Pea was a south paw and a crafty south paw at that. Nothing is worse than fighting a south paw. Problem with Sweet Pea (besides the coke) was he had no punching power. Still would have loved to see the fight.
Marlon Starling? Who can forget the Donald Curry fight when he got knocked out. Larry Merchant was like "how did it feel to get knocked out?" Starling was like "I wasn't knocked out, show me the tape." Lol.

Took the words right out of my mouth. But still, he was a south paw. And not your average south paw either.
We'll never know?

It was Tomas Molinares, Columbian cat, who knocked out Starling. Dude hit Starling after the bell, but the ref still counted Starling out. Starling did lose to Donald Curry, but it was by decision (15-round).
Starling was still the best counterpuncher EVER! Ask Lloyd Honnegan!

Damn, you got a good memory. That was some funny sh*t.
Btw. My dad recorded that fight. Don't know if he still has it on VHS. Would love to have it. I use to reply that all the time.
