Things are starting to jump off at Union Square Lounge on Fridays. E-man played there 2 weeks ago. Last week was Neff Nunez and Phil D. from Dance Tracks. The space is more of a small lounge than a real dance club, but the sound system is excellent and there's no cover. Myself and a smattering of people were dancing last week but it's really not a place to work your shit out, if you know what I mean. Hope this helps.

Friday night I was hoping to catch a spot...my girls like house but we are doing BTP on Sat. so I was trying to compromise a little...I went to this spot Club Ivy...is that still happening...any suggestions will help...

Frank's is cool on Fridays cuz they've always got a great house DJ upstairs and good hip hop/reggae/classics downstairs. It's a small, intimate, divey, neighborhood kinda joint. $5 at the door. No drama. Nice mixed crowd.

Also, Isaac Hayes is playing at BBKing's place up on 42nd st., if you wanna go way back. Also, it is right on Times Square, if your crew wants to get their tourist on, so to speak.

There's a new club on 29th st. in Manhattan called The Coral Room, where they have live mermaids swimming in a giant fish tank behind the bar. The DJ last week played a mix of hip hop and classics with some house late in the wee hours. DHP memebers Metro Area also played there a couple weeks back.

There's a trendy hipster strip club called The Pussycat Lounge which has trendy hipster parties with weird DJs who play anything and everything. I haven't been but I've heard it's quite a freak show, if that's your thing.

Glass is a lounge/bar in Chelsea on the West side where DHP alum Mike Sarkus plays on Saturdays. I don't know what they do on Fridays but the spot is nice.

Also, Prospect Park Bandshell in Brookyn is having free shows on Friday & Saturday night (see Mancuso's post...)

Friday is Alfredo De La Fe & the Spanish Harlem Orchestra

Saturday is Blackalicious and the great Harlem poet/spoken word artist Sekou Sundiata

The shows are outdoors and free.
