Complete Game, 1-Hitter, 8K, 1-0 shutout over Tom Glavine and the Mets (Willis is now 6-1). Struck out Cliff Floyd 3 times.

Tells his manager, in the 7th, "Yo, coach, keep me in".

The high knee lift and the shirt all out charisma, and talent, is something that is badly needed in baseball. If it wasn't for the fact that 1) he's in Florida; and 2) the state of baseball is wack, This would be Fernandomania, the Next Generation (Al, don't say jack!!!!). Peace.

sorry yall Dontrelle Willis is not for real, not yet at least

Maybe in 2004 or 05 but right now he's just too young to stay this hot - Rick Ankiel anyone?

and really its not a mental thing like Rick, Willis seems to have his head on straight,

its just that quality starting pitchers need to know how to pitch - right now Dontrelle is makin it happen with a funky delivery and a general unfamiliarity with the league - he's only 21 and young pitchers (even the best like Kerry Wood and Roger Clemens) are notoriously inconsistant.

Fans of dontrelle enjoy the hot streak while it lasts but don't count on him getting it done like this down the stretch. scouting reports will come out and people will find flaws - it happens to every pitcher when they first come in the league and if it doesn't happen to Dontrelle then that would make him one of the greatest to ever pitch.

bottom line He's a very good minor league pitcher that really shouldn't be in the majors yet, that's just my gut instinct - take it for what its worth - its been wrong before -

I plan to be there. If I'm going to dumpy Shea Steadium (7 Train and all), somethin' must be for real. Peace.

it will be interesting to see how the Mets fare the second time around... hope you have a good time and Willis no hits those bums

honestly im a fan of Dontrelle i just am skeptical of 21 year old pitchers that get off to fast starts.

Kevin Kennedy commented about his arm and body motion (coming across his body too much!), and is concerned that it may affect his arm in the long run.

Also, they better get a bullpen for this guy. I remember that Fernando was NEVER the same after 20 complete games (21-10) in 1986! Peace.

Floyd said he was the best pitcher he ever faced. Clemens was pretty consistent in the beginning of his career. It was the middle road(40-39) where he was suspect.
