1. Kamakura - 20 minutes out of Tokyo & a couple of stops past Yokohama - this town's a must see, with lots of Temples and Shrines and the famous Dai Budzu (Big Buddah)..

2. Asakusa, Tokyo (Asakusa Line) - wonderful old style town, with lots of Temples and gift shopping.

3. Twilight Beers/Cocktails at Cerulean Tower Hotel, Shibuya - probably the best view of Tokyo and at twilight you see the city-scape of Shinjuku light up like a scene from Bladerunner..

4. Space Lab Yellow, Wednesday 26th Oct - Arts:Y with Kenji Hasegawa, Marbo and J.P. (Vinyl Junkies, UK)
5. Yoyogi Park, Shinjuku (Sundays) - Rockabillies, Gothics, VisualK kids, skateboarders, bands and manga freaks all via for the same space as they dress to impress and get down in the park.

6. Shinjuku and Shibuya - neon, records and fashions.
Give me a call if you need a guide for a day graemlins/thumbsup.gif

My quick suggestions:
--make sure you check out Club Yellow for the deep house sceen, its amazing, kind of the japanese shelter (I can't remeber where exactly it is). I think Norm Talley played there recently.
--walk around Shibuya for the blade runner/neo-tokyo/william gibson vibe.
--go to after hours in Roppongi (we got lucky and met up with a crew that took us to places we never could have found, and where nobody spoke much english)
--go to Yayogi Park on the weekend, i think on Sunday afternoon its a parade of all of Tokyo's subcultures, from punk and rockabilly to various styles of electronic music.
--walk around Shinjuku before going out and check out the vibrant street culture, make sure you go into the arcades, they are a blast, but easy to blow a lot of loot trying to win an afro ken doll. but you can warm up for a night of dancing playing DDR. Get lost in the Shinjuku train station, its real easy.
those were my highlights when i visited a couple years ago, and that is only a small fraction of what there is to see. everybody we met were extrordinarily friendly smile.gif
have fun!! you won't want to leave...

And Derrick May plays Yellow on Saturday as well
Then we've got Kim Lightfoot next Friday at Yellow.
It's very difficult to get bored in this town and House is very much alive and kicking over here smile.gif

thanks all ... this is definitely gonna be an amazing trip! It's mostly a much-needed break from the NYC grind, but I'm hoping to hit some decks while I'm over there ... it all came together very last-minute, so I don't know if that's gonna happen or not, but either way, I ain't gonna complain!
Thanks for the suggestions - that was exactly the kinda stuff I was looking for:)
