You pay with cash instead of a debit/credit card?

It seems that by the look of major ads on TV the time for the greenback may be drawing to a close, this period of time was forcasted.

Man I think that commercial should be TOTALLY opposite! Peeps using credit/debit cards always hold up the line..

Some old school folks don't believe in credit/debit cards, cash will always be king to them.

You leave a trail with credit, cash is final on so many levels.

Here's how it's going down...
They don't want us to have cash because they can't track it well enough.
With direct deposit and debit cards, they not only know how much you made, but how you spent each dollar. THEN there's no need for doing a tax return, they just pull out what they want, and send you a receipt.
The big push for this has started with transportation. They're making it more expensive if you pay tolls with cash or if you pay cash on public transportation. It's less convenient if you use cash at the gas pump.
Next there will be longer lines in airports if you don't give up your bio-data.
After that we'll start hearing that stores have to charge you more if you use cash...because cash cost them more money to handle, and it's more dangerous for them to have cash in the stores.
Trust, in 10 or 20 years using cash is going to be as difficult as using foreign currency.

Funny thing about "the funny looks you get as a Black person" is that if you use cash they think you don't have credit, and if you use credit they think you don't have cash.

This is a fucked up world we're living in, and it ain't gettin' any better.
They're redefining "freedom". It used to mean being able to do what you want to do....now it's doing what they want you to do.

Yeah. About two years ago on Black Friday, I paid $1100 cash at Walmart. The lady on line behind me, jaw dropped as I counted it out. She said it must be nice to have it like that. I replied that no, I don't, but I just don't want more bills after the new year. I only have two credit cards and pay cash as often as I can.

around christmas time, unless i'm ordering it online, i pay cash for it. i get a couple bonuses around christmas time and i always cash them and walk around with hunnies in my pocket whilst christmas shopping.

That's the exact reason why cash might never leave us. Politicians are rather partial to untraceable funds dropping into their laps. They're never going to want to lose that. I know ultimately the banks have all the power but I'm not sure 'card credits over cash' will be accepted without a fight from everyone. Anonymity is key.

Also, there's no electronic system that can stop fraud. If everything moved to electronics we'd have huge problems. You only need to look at the amount of CC fraud and identity theft we have now, to see there's no way around crime.

You still need to pull a card out your wallet, just like money. You still need to key in your pin and wait for autherisation, takes longer than waiting for change. Then there's the cash-back question, not with money. So it probably takes longer, and if people want cash-back, it definitely takes longer.

But we already know marketing it there to fool us, to sell us the sizzle and not the steak.
