I never could understand the purpose of the battle of the DJs with House Music. I always thought House was a more Spiritual thing than a competition.

It's just something fun to do. We used to have them at the record pool and Downshift Radio. And I believe we had one at Caviar with a dozen djs or so.

I'd love to see a DJ battle, face off call it what you will again.
Out of the DMC or reggae dancehall arena, this would be something fresh in the house arena.
I think Mr Peabody did something like this before, but like to see this expanded to a wider audience.
Two DJ's playing their best cuts be it disco to house 3 for 3 and as it goes on 1 for 1 for who can draw the baddest cut of them all. The crowd would be the judge by their (((roar))) of approval.
This would encourage some real crate digging too
Different rounds to represents different categories. i.e.
round 1: Best warm up track
round 2: Best vocal
round 3: Best vintage track
round 4: Best exclusive... etc. this list could go on and on.

then people would spend the rest of the night and then following year arguing over the decision...

I can understand it for Freestyle but when I hear House i just want to dance and be in the same Zone with 1 DJ. I guess I'm just an old fart.

It's not that you're old Rasmir. I too want to do that most of the time , but think the odd 1 offs battles would be a good thing. Create some excitement and controversy.
I think it would just bring something else to the table in the current state of things now.
I'd go as far to say more themed parties wouldn't go a miss.
The same ole formula needs to be geeed up a bit...

Not at all. I agree with you but I'm an old fart tho'..lol..but there's been some real good House DJ's in the DMC battles over the years like Bad Boy Bill in the late 80's, he was nasty with it! Used to scratch with girls' titties and his d***(!)
Timmy, what record pool were you a member of? Not by any chance the IDRC? I was a member there anyway.

that was classic...the look on Bill's face was priceless...one of the few times he had nothing to say.
the donger and I singing on the mic was just ridiculous drunkedness...Dj Massiah looking at all of us like "these fools are really some crazy mofos" and then falling right in step with us..
We need to revive those great times...
