...and if you don't know what an SDA is, then you aren't one - be glad. biggrinangel.gif
I'm asking 1) b/c I'm curious to know. How you got from there to here? And 2) I thought Prince was SDA not JW... many people get the two confused.
I play golf on the seventh day. Does that count??.....JMJ

I am forsure JW. I am a none practicing JW right now. I was born and raised in it. Larry Graham is an Elder with the JW's. He is the one that put Prince on to it. I believe he was also studying with Chaka at one point, but I don't believe she made the change.

I wonder how many of the Jacksons besides their mother are still JW, practicing or not.

You are crazy J. Speaking of the Jacksons, if you saw the movie and they showed Rebbi's wedding which took place at the Kingdom Hall my uncle was a Groomsman.

-G </font>[/QUOTE]Here's some scriptures that would be used to explain G. 1 Corinthians 11: 1-4, 1 Timothy 2: 11-15. These give us the role man and woman are to play in the congregation. 1 Timothy 3: 1-16 gives the qualifications of being an Elder and Ministrial Servant. You have to be an Ministrial Servant first to become and Elder. I don't practice but I remember alot and have my Bible here with me at work. Also for those who my think this is a male-chauvinist view, woman play a major role in doing the preaching work or door to door work as we call it. They do most of it actually.

Prince's whole last album was one long propaganda for the JW's. It's still a great record regardless.

Big difference, although they both observe the sabbath God's holidays. SDA's practice Pegan Hoildays which GW's don't touch.
Which is a big difference. The list goes on..
I was a memeber of SDA family for a while.

Interesting thread, have no clue what an SDA is or are but I did study for a year with the JW when I was 19. After spending the summer in England where my Aunt is an active member at her Hall. I went with her to the big conventions, watched people get baptised, hung out with them. So at the time, I made a choice to try and understand more about it this religion.
I must admit most of the people seemed really cool and my teacher was a super lady, but I could never get passed the whole thing where only the JW will get saved/resurrected and the others will die thing. I had to stop because it just began to piss me off. The more questions I had the more I was refered back to the bible where it was taken so literally and did not answer my questions.
Mack, got a question for you, the whole thing with revelations and the date 1914, what was the correllation again?

What made you leave the SDA family? When did you get into house music/dancing?

I grew tired of high school football in the eleventh grade. I needed a good excuse for my crazy coach. I told him it was for "religious reasons". His reply was, "what are you, one a' them Seven Day Adventurists? Nearly peed my pants...

We believe this is the year that Jesus began his rule in the Heavens and also the year he cast Satan and his Demons out of Heaven, and the beginning of the last days Jesus fortold about. We come up with that year through a propecy in the book of Daniel. Daniel Chapter 9.

Upon ruling in heaven in the year 1914, the book of revelations is to take place when all people born in that year have passed on. Am I correct on this. If I am wrong I apologize, it has been a long time since I thought along these lines.
Funny, I still have my New World Translation bible (which I just read that chapter from) with me, I keep several different versions of the bible on hand. smile.gif

my girl is a SDA. we have a fundamental argument regarding our future together and creating a family. central to our dispute is my decision, that no eventual kids of ours are going to have anything at all to do with SDA. that joint is a sect, and none of mine are going to be involved in it until they reach some sort of age where they are able to make a mature decision based on individual choice. i have to say that my stand in this matter is 100% firm and irrevocable - it is make-or-break, and i will not budge an inch in that regard.
a couple of months ago i attended an SDA wedding of some friends of friends of hers, and i could not believe how conservative, backward, misogynist and stupidifying that club is. i told her there and then that i am never going to set a foot in their place of worship ever again.
i have to add that i come from an absolutely non-religious home, was raised non-confessional (although i did attend a catholic/ecuminical high school for three years, and have a basic knowledge of christian scripture), and remain a staunch atheist/non-believer/heretic (i was born in commie East Germany - religion wasn't really on the cards back then...)
peace. ngeso.

I back you completely to make sure your children have a chance to make an aware decision for themselves and not a conditioned response to what they've been taught.
SDAs = good people, but the religion itself AR15firing.gif
