A co-worker suggetsed to me that Black and White are the two most offensive words in the English language.To prove his point,he stated the following,"A young girl was raped by 10 guys".Add Black and White to that and the story becomes 100 times worse.

Yup, that's pretty naaaasty. Weirdly enough it never had much effect on me, but I never seen a word make so many people in a public place gasp. However, If I was was wid' me mammy, I'd shell out some slaps to the perpretrators. No offence Ngeso, but even 'ficken' never had the same effect, still, pretty brutal al the same. :thumbsup:

Neither 'polygamy' nor 'submission' are offensive words in the expletive sense in the English language. And even if I shout at you "You polygamist!", that may or may not be received as an insult, but it is still not offensive.

In any case, how is polygamy offensive? Like monogamy, its opposite, it is a societal convention, and can work just fine if exercised correctly (and as done in many societies).

I believe you are mistaking polygamy with cheating, and one can't really do that because they are not the same thing at all.

IMO, the Scots swear the best in the world, I just love how it sounds. Funny that Billy Connolly for example can say just about any offensive word he chooses, and he gets away with it with everyone. It's the accent that makes it sound so appealing. I also like when it's said quickly like it's one word - 'y'basa'

Having done my own examination of polygamy vs monogamy, I'm comfortable discussing the pros and cons of both (and their are pros and cons.)

Try suggesting either polygamy or submission to the average woman an see how communication breaks down. They are such touchy subjects, that it would be difficult to have an objective discussion without some serious bristling.

Actually, the interesting thing is that polygamy IS increasingly suggested to western women, and they increasingly DO act on these suggestions. Because of their empowerment, women are more than ever before able to entertain relationships with more than one partner at a time. This includes open and covert (commonly referred to as "cheating") parallel relationships with both male and female partners (just look at all the women openly flouting their bi-curiosity, which is an imperatively polygamous concept).

In fact, if you consider serial monogamy - which is today's stark reality of sexual practice, having replaced to near-completion the flowery, romantic 19th century myth of a life-spanning and death-transcending single relationship that YOU are probably referring to, then the vast majority of western women are in fact polygamous.
