To my fellow DHP members:

In a previous post I had mentioned that Chris who is a friend and a journalist will be traveling to Afghanistan. For those who might find interest in this....we will try to see thru his eyes and ears a little bit of whats happening over there.

Chris also writes about music.

Here is his first communication.........

Hello all

Well we've made it to Pakistan! I fly to Islamabad tomorrow, and then on to Kabul where I shall be for about a week. Things seem to have stablised there a little, which is good. I shall be spending my time checking out some aid projects and interviewing people to see how the work the charity is doing has helped them. These are people who have had alot taken from them already, whether it's having their family shot by Russians or Mujahadeen, or being expelled by the Taliban for being from a minority ethnic group such as the Tajiks, so whilst it will be interesting it will also be a challenge to say the least.

There is apparently an internet cafe in Kabul run by an erratic satellite phone, so contact may be difficult, but I shall certainly be in touch again when I return to Karachi on 1st August. Sarah sadly will be staying here, as the work she is going to be doing is mostly pertaining to Pakistan, so that is a shame.

Anyway, hope you all receive this. Will be in touch again soon...

Chris
