Jamie he cant be president unless someone amends the constitution. You have to be a natural born citizen to run for president.

That should give you some solace. He can only **** up a state or help someone else **** up the presidency.

Henry Kissinger was born in Germany and did not become a naturalized citizen until 1943. He was appointed Secretary of State in the 70s, does this still exclude him from becoming a president?

Ireland is a very different country to what it was even 15 years ago. It would be a very cool place to live for a while. The West coast has stunning countryside.

My girlfriend is Irish descent and her family live there so I'm heading there for xmas.

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"

Anyone born inside the United States
Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President.

Sen Orin Hatch on the subject:

"Hatch has introduced a resolution to amend the Constitution's ban on non-American-born presidents by allowing people who have been U.S. citizens for at least 20 years to be elected to the White House. While the measure was not introduced with Schwarzenegger in mind, Hatch said the Austrian-born superstar would be a perfect example of why the constitutional amendment is needed.
"'If Arnold Schwarzenegger turns out to be the greatest governor of California, which I hope he will, if he turns out to be a tremendous leader and he proves to everybody in this country that he's totally dedicated to this country as an American . . . we would be wrong not to give him that opportunity,' said Hatch."

FEMA has the following abilities which were created from Executive Orders which is when the president makes laws simply by writing them in the Federal Register. This method bypasses Congress. If the president declares a national emergency FEMA can do the following:

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995
provides for the takeover of the communications media

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997
provides for the takeover of all electric, power, petroleum, gas, fuels, and minerals

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10988
provides for the takeover of food resources and farms

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10999
provides for the takeover of all modes of transportation, control of highways, seaports etc.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000
provides for mobilization of all civilians into work brigades under Government supervision

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001
provides for Governmental takeover of all health, education and welfare functions

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002
designates the postmaster general to operate a national registration of all persons

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003
provides for Governmental takeover of all airports and aircraft

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004
provides for the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005
provides for Governmental takeover of all railroads, inland waterways, and public storage facilities

All of these orders were combined under Nixon into one big, long Executive Order. If the president declares a national emergency these things will be implemented by FEMA not the President. The power has been given to FEMA by these executive orders. The big all in one Executive Order is number 11490. It was signed by Carter on July 20, 1979. It is law. Let it be known that the power FEMA has is the actual suspension of the Constitution of the United States of America. If you study you will find there are no laws detailing the reinstatement of the Constitution once the "national emergency" is over. Suspending the Constitution means no more bill of rights. It means martial law. It means no more freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to assembly, freedom to petition, freedom to possess firearms, anything.

Read the following from the Federal Register:

"On November 14, 1994, by executive order 12938, I declared a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States posed by the proliferation of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons ("weapons of mass destruction") and the means of delivering such weapons. Because of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction ... I am continuing the national emergency declared in executive order 12938"
Bill Clinton - placed into the Federal Register on November 12, 1997

Didn't know that did you? The national emergency was declared long ago and it keeps getting extended. Doesn't that seem a little weird to you?
