that's not how it works. but what would you expect from someone who's dedicated years of their life to subliminal?

the stuff he was doing when I following him had it's ups and downs.

"genius" would be a far stretch IMO

i got mr g. records from years ago, always dug a lot of his stuff...but as always, people jump on bandwagons when they hear certain deeper than though dj's play things. playing records only because your favorite records plays them does not make one a dj. finding records on your own to break and introduce is a whole other thing...

One record that sticks out in my memory had a silver label with a green G on it. I still have it in an old box at my moms' but it never rocked my world so there it will rest.

I remember thinking it was too filtered-discoish tech house.

Is he doing some good new stuff? I liked a little of the techno side of the advent.

There was a totally sick record that came out around 96 on the Swim 12 label by Gman. Slamming tech house ep that always rocks the floor.

I'm pretty sure that's not the same G though.

I'm pretty sure that's not the same G though. He has a few cuts on SWIM that are deep as hell. Not the techy disco filter style he started doing as G-Flame.

That is IF they are the same producer... graemlins/conf44.gif

</font>
Those guys kept the silver and green label graphic from Metalbox to Phoenix G - i'm still not sure when exactly that changeover took place, and when G Flame and Mr. G started recording separately. Da Soul EP was alright, but the one that was really good was Da Playaz EP w/ Do It Right.

There's some crap out on the net floating around saying that G Flame and Mr. G are the same person, but that's definintely not the case. Something that I'm kicking myself for missing out on is the Manmade - Spacewreck joint on Fragile.

I like them (the Advent/G Flame & Mr. G) because they do a "cleaned up" Jeff Mills sound.

Edit - he is a different guy - Gez Varley. The other half of LFO with Mark Bell.

Jurren, don't do that!!! sike, just playin. smile.gif

Yeah I have 2 of the soundhack ep's.

I think the Soundstream one is better, but they all have a sound unique to them.

Cool stuff, thanks for the clarification~ graemlins/thumbsup.gif

advent do a great live show btw </font>
the advent is Cisco alone since about 2000. Cisco had the first ever Fragile rec under his own name in 1990, and the man made "Space Wrek" ep was released in '96 and was produced by both Cisco and Colin. they also released some as "soul detroyaz" on Synwave.
Cisco used to be a studio engineer in "Jack Tracks" (the lable) studios back in the 80s, and Colin used to be a fashion designer b4 starting producing.

are they behind 'soulhack' aswell, saw a downtempo/hiphop lp using the same cut up sampling technique a couple of months ago, but i think that was released on a french label? i could be wrong though [there's plenty of proof of that claim in this thread alone smile.gif ]
