if so ....how did you get over it? there will always be those times guy, life has a way of bringing you right back to where your faith got its start anyway. sort of a reminder that you may be getting too egotistical.
i've personally been blessed but i've never really lost faith...i have always had a love for a creator even in my darker moments...cultivate it in you better times and it won't leave you.

For me it's sort of like this, i've had revalations that i am JUST human being...i try to stay humble in most of the things that i do. But i've just been so ....dissapointed with the blatant hypocrasy(sp?) that i see going on in religion(organized) ...i dunno, I still beleive in a single creator, i'm just a bit hazy on theology...lol sorry if this post makes no sense. smile.gif

How do you get over it? Going back to a state of being brainwashed is something you should ask yourself.
Count how many religions are on this earth, how many Gods, symbols, beliefs, and how they vary throughout the world, and then ask yourself, is there one true religion, one true omnipotent being, or am I just an ant roaming this world?

as for the hypocrisy in religion, my brotherman, hypocrisy is to be found IN SPADES in people and there's much out there. don't follow anyone until you've come to grips with yourself and i'm saying this because i've done it not only when it comes to religion (i abandoned it when i was real young) but everything else in general.
i see religion as a wasteful and impossible attempt at trying to bottle the eternity and intelligence of the universe when its within you all along.

I understand your feelings and you do not have to explain your feelings to anyone but God.

When, life don't go the way you want it to, you usually want to question God or lose faith. I used to go through this until I took a look at myself to seek out what was it I was doing wrong. It seemed to me at the time that everyone that was following God and getting the results but I couldn't get there and was mad at God for not doing things for me. Then I realized that I had to change myself and it wasn't God that had failed me it was me. I had direction but chose to do things my way, then wanted God to get me out of it. My faith changed when I realized that I couldn't do every thing alone.

Religion I can understand why you question it and if you know God for who he is, then you are straight, you don't have to get all religious to know God or to be close to him. As God's creation he still had the ability to speak to us to know what's right and wrong. There are far too many religious folk that would dissappoint you and you would become discouraged. I just say keep searching until you know in your heart that God has every part in whatever you do, Knowing his voice will not lead us astray. It's the interpretation from some that will.

Back when i was in college i asked my Biology teacher (who was also a preacher) and said "how can you practice religion knowing science is challenging GOD and is coming up with theories that make more sense than religion?"
He said.."science has not explained how PERFECT everything in the universe is."
I thought about that and felt a bit better.

Religion is so messed up today because people put there own views on how people should worship God. Find your truth within the Bible. Read it and if you don't understand it seek the knowledge to help you understand. From my understanding you cannot just believe in God, but you have to be working withing Gods guidelines all of them.

if so ....how did you get over it? well you don't have to be christian to believe in a greater force (call it god).
i've come to realise that during the most troublesome times, the force of god within is at its highest peak.
think of god as your immune system. when you get sick the symptoms of the illness that make you feel like crap are actually a good thing. your immune system is in high gear. for example fever is necessary to kill the bacteria in a cold.
in the same way depression is a sign of the spiritual immune system gearing up to make you understand certain things. when you come out of the depressed state, clarity of mind is usually heightened (usually you don't eat much when you're depressed. this releases adrenaline in your brain and produces a euphoria similiar to fasting or even taking lsd), & from there you gain insight into your purpose in life, or at least you get closer to understanding what it is. with each depression, new insight is gained & the spirit is renewed & strengthened.
the same is true if we leave our immune system alone to do its job, instead of relying on quick fixes that do more harm than good. by putting the immune system on hold, it weakens, a simple analogy would be the muscles of your body not being exercised enough. sooner or later they atrophy.
allow your spiritual immune system to guide you. listen to your inner voice & remember, god is ALWAYS with you, otherwise you would not exist.
the Logos of john in the bible is exactly this. the word becomes a man "is made flesh" appears as an incarnation, in order that the god whom no man has seen at any time may be manifested.
here's a very popular christian saying that most are familiar with that encapsulates the concept of the trinity in us all.
FOOTPRINTS
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life,
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him,
and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the
most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I
needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you,
and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
actually the term christian is minunderstood. one who follows the unwavering laws of the universe is a true christian.

if so ....how did you get over it? I've had thoughts about giving up, but I know it wouldn't be right. Thankfully, I've been surrounded by people in my life that have had strong faith and I've seen how their lives have been affected by it. Keep the faith no matter what struggles you go through and don't let anyone discourage you. Life has it's ups and downs and you have to learn how to ride the wave. Having faith will make it easier. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy to continue having faith, especially when things go bad but if you stay strong and believe in the Lord then he will take care of you. He is always by your side and you should always remember it. Keep the faith and stay strong.
Peace,
AD
