View Full Version : Question for Dem voters

Which of the Repub candidates would you like to see win the nomination?
And, is your choice based on strategy (it gives your Dem candidate the best chance of winning the general election) or safety (if your Dem candidate loses the general election, at least you're stuck with the most bearable Repub president)?
Who are you rooting for on the other side?
good question, the one with the worst relationship with karl rove, having said that, i would want the candidate most accessible to my constituent group, that might mean mccain

out of the current bunch, I think the most unelectable popular Republican is Rudy. So I'd like him to be nominated.
I'm predicting they're going to nominate Romney. McCain is going to croak in August

Giuliani for 2 reasons
a) He's a right bastard who speaks his mind and likes to argue. It would make for an interesting series of debates.
b) I don't think he could win cuz he's too much of a bastard and he has a mild speech impediment. hey don't blame the messenger here

all them bastards are scary as hell, but i'll go with romney.
i think it'll be pretty easy to take him out with the whole "flip flop" angle during the general elections. (did you see him on mee the press a few weeks ago? tim russert murdered him!!!) but if he wins the general, i also think he would be the most bearable.

rudy. gay friendly - choice friendly.. and being from new york city he's used to working with and accomodating people who don't believe as he does, and have issues to deal with that don't necessarily affect him personally.
this country needs a dose of nyc thinking imo
hillary & rudy 2008! :rofl5:

i'm not crazy about him....the point was to have a choice of a republican nominee....
and he did alot of good here, but then he got stupid about it....my issues relating to a republican are choice and gay marriage...he's the friendliest republican on those, and it shows the willingness to include those that dont believe as he does

Actually, I'm inclined to also choose Rudy.
For all his problems, at least he comes from a part of the country that makes sense to me. He's certainly on the left edge of the Rupublican party. And, like others said, I think he is the most unelectable.

i mean when you think about it...rudy is a big ol real politcal splash of REALITY on the republican party - there are ALOT OF MEN LIKE RUDY...all those 'family values' problems...he's had a messy life....BUT he cant hide that shit like the other republicans do...and the fact that he's alost the republican poster boy is just fabulous to me lololol
being a nyc mayor...allllll his dirty laundry is already out there AND been gone over millions of times....he's so dirty it's PRICELESS...but i think he represents alot more what politicians are actually like ...rather than what they SAY they are...
he's not a pretty 'moral' package and he's all smiles anyway...i dont know why i get such a huge kick out of that.
but in a way, it makes him the consumate new yorker...and he WAS awesome on 911 ...and for all his faults, he shined when we need it most.

i think rudy could do well against clinton.

I disagree with this. He didn't do anything that ANY other mayor would have done in the same position. In fact, looking back at all the evidence we have now, it seems he did a poor job in a number of ways.

you can always look back and have hindsight. 9/11 was unprecedented... a nyc city mayor is unlike any other mayor in the country....
good or bad..those couple of days were vitally important to us getting back on our feet...i am not so sure any other mayor could be compared...the whole country looks to nyc it wasn't just a citywide event

I don't even know who is running... :-0
I know its kind of sad but i lost faith in the system, the country, the people ...
I don't think our votes matter... :(
so I don't pay much attention to what's going on....
